What Has Gone Wrong With Your Car So Far?

I just wanted to see if I'm having common problems with mine. It is a 2005 New Beetle.
The plastic underneath the car has completely come off now from hitting a dip, because it is such a low car. The front piece on the front bumper had to be tied back up with cable ties just from hitting a curb.
Inside the car, a couple of the buttons near the defroster have come off. The button on the emergency break came off. The center thing where you can store CDs no longer closes all the way, despite that nothing is stuck. And the sun roof goes up randomly sometimes and refuses to go back down sometimes.
And my thermostat went bad, but I had that fixed. Despite all that, I still like this car though. It is my dream car, I just wish everything wasn't so cheaply made and falling apart.
So what has gone wrong with yours?

Hi Pigglies,
so sorry you're having car problems...I know how that can be...
The Beetle is my 18 year old's dream car...that's what she wants and considering that she is graduating next Friday and enrolled in college yesterday for the fall semester I was thinking that as soon as she gets her driver's license I would buy it but now...Ummmmmmmmmm I don't know...I have a Honda Fit Sport...let me tell you, this is the greatest car invented...it's almost like an SUV, you can do so much with the seats, lower them and it looks like a station wagon, believe it or not, lots of room and oh so cool to drive...anyway I bought it brand new with only 14 miles on it, don't know if that makes a difference...Did you buy it new or used? Sounds like too many things going wrong, don't you have a warranty? I have 100,000 mile warranty so thank God, I really don't have to worry...But I've had some lemons in my life so I know what you're going through...very sorry...hope everything works out for you!

That's the other thing, the seats only go partially down on this! When I got it, the dealer said they went down all the way, and being dumb back then, I did not ask for a demonstration. But my next car, I am going to make sure. I want to be able to transport a bale of hay without having to break it up for transport.
I bought this car brand new, it was hard to get too. I had to get it from about 300-400 hundred miles away. So I bought it brand new with a few hundred miles on it since I made the salesperson drive and get it (afterall, I had no other car... I was not going on a 400 mile bicycle trip!).
I do still have a warranty, but with work and school I haven't had time to get it fixed yet. But after this week, hopefully I'll be able to take it in. It only has 40,000 miles on it so far so it's still covered. Even with the warranty when I take it in something always manages to cost me. The front end is not covered and would be $2,000 to fix they said. I am not fixing it, because it is so flimsy that will just happen again. I've noticed about half of these cars I've seen on the road have that part missing or tied on.
This is my first car, so while I had my dad check out the engine and make sure that looked like it would last and run for a good long while (I want this car to last 10 years), I didn't even know that cheap little plastic things inside the car can break. Plus I was somewhat blinded by the fact that this was my dream car. I actually bought it right about when I got my license too, which was when I was a bit older than your daughter since this car wasn't exactly cheap so it took me awhile to get a job where I could afford the payments.
I still like it overall though, but I'm hoping they'll be able to fix some things when I take it in. I'm not rough with stuff at all either, so I was pretty shocked at the amount of things that are breaking.

Hey Pigglies, can you tell me how much it cost?
My Honda was about $17,000 but believe me it's worth every penny cause the motor or engine (I'm a novice when it comes to autos :-( will last forever...it's like the bunny with the batteries, it keeps going and going and going...the other car that I know is worth every cent is the Nissan, my other daughter has one and it has over 100,000 miles on it and still runs great! She has traveled to and from Florida to New Jersey about 4 times and God only knows where else she's been with it :-)She is 32 so I don't keep tabs on her...although she is very good with letting me know that she is safe!!
I wish you luck and the very best with your car...stay cool, stay well, and do not stress!!

I'm trying to think back to the exact amount, but it was over $20,000 because it was such a popular car at the time and I got a green one, the hardest color to find. Plus, it would have taken another 6 months to locate a base-model, so I had to get the one with the best stereo system and the sun roof. But not the turbo, just the regular one.
I probably should have gone with a used car and I could have been driving several years earlier if I did, but you know how it to just have to have your dream car. :)
