It's been an odd spring to say the least. Summer is around the corner and I am hoping for more heat and sunshine than we recieved the past few weeks. A lot of rain has helped things grow but we need heat and sunshine especially for my apples to ripen at their normal pace. Anyhow as I was outside today I saw the many apples formed that have finally started to get larger and ripening, turning red. I have about 100 or so that I could see on the Harlared Apple Tree. I am excited for a large crop as are my daughter and grandsons. Just wanted to share this photo and story of the progress of my apples this year. My Honeycrisp Apple Tree still has no blooms.

Oh, I remember seeing things like that in my Grandpa's orchard but I never connected it with apples when I was little, they were just pretty! The apples were wonderful, so sweet and crisp and so unlike what we get in the supermarket today.
I hope you get some wonderful apples!

Yes they are much better picked right
off a backyard tree and not some farm.

I love apples. We used to have an apple tree in our yard when I was growing up. It produced alot of green apples but only a few of them ever ripened. Most of the ripened ones were eaten up a little by some kind of bug. I still liked the green ones though.
I am so excited to get some fresh tomatoes this year from our garden. It has been very hot here and not much rain. We have a chance for some later today though. My tomato plants are growing slowly but no tomatoes are on the vines yet. I am glad to have them since the salmonella outbreak also. My green onions are doing very well and my leaf lettuce also. I want some fresh tomatoes though.

We've been eating green and yellow garden onions for awhile from my garden. Our tomatoes are starting to form finally. Now we need some heat and sunshine to assit them as well as the apples and a bunch other veggies. My apples look good this year once again. One tree anyhow the other hasn't even bloomed.

Hope you get all the sunshine you need! I am hoping to get an apple and orange tree next year. I think it would be great to have apples and oranges without having to go and buy them.

I just now got this email notice and had to hunt it down to see the picture but it was worth it. I am sure that you and your entire family will have some good eats with all of those apples. I would trade you some heat and sunshine for some rain if I could.

Yummy! We had a bunch of blooms on our apple tree about a month ago, but I have not been out lately to check on it. I don't even know what kind of apple tree it is. I know that they are red and kind of ugly, but taste good. I know the peach tree has a ton of small peaches on it.

I would love to have a peach tree but
they don't handle the Minnesota winters.

Well you ain't kidding when you say that spring has been odd. I think that it has been odd too. We have not had loads of rain, even though it has been predicted here all week, but my it has been cold.
Now this could be because we have had some really hot 76 degree weather and it has now dropped, but the drop in temp makes me feel freezing. It is about 56 degrees now and I find myself in jumpers again.
But yes, summer is not too far away now and I really hope that some beautiful weather is on its way, I just want some heat! It is great that your apple tree is doing so well though, I love red apples.
