The other day I posted about my bag of groceries breaking and cans of soup landing on my bare toes. My toe is so bruised and swollen and purple I can't even put on a shoe. I had to wear flip flops when I took my daughter to her appointment yesterday with my big ugly bruised toe sticking out. Have you ever injured your toe so bad you could not wear socks and shoes? How did you deal with it?

Yes I have. I was making dinner one night. I went to the pantry to get a can of something. Another can fell out right on my foot. Like you big swollen black and blue toes. I even lost a toe nail.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about that. I used to do that kind of thing all the time when I was a kid. Not sure why my mom would let me play with canned goods. She was kind of absent minded and uninvolved as a parent anyway. These days, I try to be so careful. But the other month a canned good fell out of the cabinet and hit me in the chest. There was a lot of pain from that. Just lucky the thing didn't hit me in the face. After that, I dejunked my cabinets!

I have definitely injured a toe and broke it,too. I went into our dark bedroom one night after my husband had gone to bed. A cleaning cart had been left at the foot of the bed instead of being pushed up to the wall. I could not see it because my eyes had not yet got adjusted to the dark and I ran my toe into one of the side poles.I thought I'd die! And, before it got better,a few nights later I got up during the night to go to the bathroom. The door wasn't completely back away from the opening, and again, not being able to see, I ran my toe right under the door! I think that is when I broke it, and it really turned purple. It hurt for weeks and I was unable to put any type of shoe on. I don't wear flip flops,so I just ran around in socks until it got well enough to wear a shoe. And,then it was sandals. It still does not bend like the same toe on the other foot.
