How long do you wait to tell people?

When you find out that you are expecting, how long do you wait to let people know? I did not wait very long with my 2 children to tell some people. Others I waited longer. Do you tell some sooner and others later?

I think that I would wait to tell people until the second trimester when the risks of losing the baby are lower.

I told my family right away and a few of my good friends, but the rest i waited till I heard his heartbeat to decide to tell them.

A friend of mine told people early, a couple of times, and then lost the baby, a couple of times. What she finally did the third time around was not tell anyone until she really started to SHOW that she was expecting.
