Yes the title says 8 feet. But my feelings is more likely 10 feet or more. This is my Violet Clematis. It has grown like crazy the past 2 weeks. It has wrapped around the wire a few times and has also wrapped around a couple rails on my front deck. This thing would be nearly 10 feet if it stood straight up. Now I know for sure that next year I HAVE to get a trellis for it. I se maybe a dozen or so buds that should be flowers on it as well. Those should start opening up one at a time withing the next week I feel. Another gardening task I tackled this weekend. I had not placed the red mulch here last year. It sure adds a lot to the looks.

Why do all your plants thrive so well AGB? I sure wish I had your talent! I shall take a photo of my clematis over an arch on my back steps once it has been pruned back - it is the healthiest plant ever to grow in my garden apart from my fuschia! lol xxxx

maybe because I show them so much caring and love? I have no idea other than that really. I'll be awaiting this pic.

I think I used to give them too much love , care and food! lol I think it will be after our holiday before the clematis arch gets tidied up! I would try and post a picture beforehand but I am afraid you would tell me off for letting it get so untidy! xxx

My mom is giving me her Clematis when I get a trellis made for it and decide where I'm going to put it. She has it in full shade and said it never grows or flowers. I told her it's because it needs full sun. It's only 2' tall now and won't grow much bigger either where she has it. I've got all these small logs that I know I can do something with so thinking of how I can build a trellis out of them.

Not full sun but partial sun at least. They need a few gours direct sun at least to flourish. Mine gets about 8 hours a day.

That looks very healthy and happy! I like clematis, when I lived in Florida they were all over the place but I haven't seen many here in Ohio. My neighbor, though, has a hibiscus that I thought only liked a tropical climate and yet it's growing after spending a winter in the snow!
I just have to make a plan for next year. You have such a beautiful garden, orchard and yard that it makes me want to plan out something I can enjoy and maintain!
