A Great Workout Today

Seeing it was a great day this afternoon I went for a short bike ride down to the Mississippi River. Well that 4 mile bike ride turned into a 30 mile ride. there is a huge hill coming back and I did not feel like tackling that today so I was planning on the long way home which would have been about a 10 mile trip total. Then as I got to my turn off I figured I'd ride to my A.A. club. Now I know for a fact I need to get me one of those gel pack seats for my bike. I don't know which hurts more right now, my butt, or my legs. But it was a great ride that took me about one hour and 45 minutes total time. Since I wuit smoking 17 days ago this ride was so easy as compared to a ride back then. I can breath at least. How long can or have you rode a bike at one time? And if you woulod please join this group after posting if you have not already. It would be greatly appreciated. Also I will accept friends requests as well. I love this site and the members as well. Thanks in advance for joining my group. Take care all and have a great day/evening. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

WOW, I bet you sleep good tonight for sure. That is a long way to go but as long as you had a good time that is what counts. If you posted a discussion about your quitting smoking 17 days ago I didn't get it in my email so I want to say congratulations to you, been almost 1 1/2 years for me. As for riding a bike? I can't tell you the last time I rode a bike, I never was a bike rider. I used to love to skate but haven't done that in a long time either.

Thanks for the best response. I am assuming you are still smoke free? It is hard but you seem to be keeping busy and that makes it much easier.

Coming from a fellow biker, your butt hurts more than your legs. Trust me.lol Once you start riding on a regular basis, your butt will stop hurting but your legs won't after a long ride. The longest ride I have ever been on was the Apple Cider Century in Michigan about 20yrs. ago. It was an all-day event so I took my time riding it and enjoying the sites. Now I average about 30miles a ride since that's all my daughter can handle right now. Gotta get a new rim for my 15-yr. old bike so we can ride into town all the time instead of taking the car. Might get both rims being it's so old.

I cannot ride a bike as I amn partly handicapped 'but wish I could as its great exercise for ones body.So you quit smoking and more power to you as its not easy to do.My husband just could not quit and so it finally killed him with' heart attack no,two. so I grow old alone but with my son here' with me too.

I am trying so hard to quit smoking. Congratulations! I would never try to ride a bike that distance. I don't mind walking but riding a bike would kill me!

The longest bike ride I did was 24 miles down to the lake (the long way..we actually sort of got lost too LOL) with my gf when she was visitin a couple summers ago...and it was FABULOUS!! I like to bike ride for at least 5-7 miles during the warm months (though I havent yet this yr but once the weather decides what the hell its goin to do I will be) I was REALLY IMPRESSED last summmer when my kids biked with me 15 miles to the lake (we went straight down townline instead of the route my gf and I took LOL) They were EXHAUSTED when we finally made it home but I was SO PROUD of them!! Especially my daughter because with her being overweight it was REALLY a trek for her ya know but she did it!!

I used to ride bike all the time around the lake we have in the center of town....it's about 6 miles....I would take the kids too then we would stop and get a bite to eat before going home. They always look forward to the riding and just being together...it's one of their best memories and they talk about it all the time....good for you for riding so far!

Thirty miles is quite a long bike ride. I have not been on a bicycle in probably 15 years. I used to take bike rides with my friends when I was younger, but that was before I could drive. I don't think I have touched a bike since. We used to do about 5 mile rides every few days. One day I think we did about 10 miles. We had me friends dad drive our path to tell us how far it was.

Grandpa Bob I am well impressed, 17 days WELL DONE YOU Wow you did some riding today, I wonder if you will be stiff in the next few days? When I have a workout I am usually OK the day after, but then the day after that I am usually as stiff as a board!

My legs are still wobbly even after sitting and relaxing for the last 2 hours since the ride. It was very good feeling though after it was doen and over. I will do it again tomorrow. Maybe not that far. I plan on getting some photos of the woods and all and also of the C00n Rapids Dam area and the river and dam itself maybe tomorrow. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
