A lot of people don't know who Larry Adler is, but he was a very very very famous harmonica player. But since few people know who he was nowadays, I am often very surprised to find references to him in contemporary works.
Recently, I was reading a book titled "Her Last Death" and the author claims Larry Adler was her grandfather in the book. She doesn't flat out say his name, but the way she describes him it is very obvious who it is.
I love just about everything Larry Adler has played. I've only read his book "Me and My Big Mouth" and want to read more by him (well, I know that one wasn't exactly by him...). But mostly, I just love to listen to everything he did. I was I could have seen him in person, especially if I could time travel back to his younger days.
So have you come across any interesting references to Larry Adler in unexpected places?
If so, where?
