A real Devonshire Beauty

Yesterday my wife and I met a real myLot beauty. One of the strange things about myLot is the intensity of some of the on-line friendships that we make. Not with everybody of course, but for many of us there are a half dozen or so people who come to mean more than just a couple of sentences. They light up our day and we look out for them each time that we come on. I met one of these people yesterday. My wife and I often pop down to Devon (about 85 miles from home) for a night or two and we thought that this time it might be fun to combine the trip with meeting up with a myLot frind of mine. In fact, we decided that this would be the sole reason of our visit. My friend and I e-mailed each other to check that we were both happy with the proposal and agreed the date. My friend rang me last weekend to ensure that everything was still fine and to agree a venue for the meeting. So yesterday lunchtime found my wife and I standing outside a very posh farm shop complex pretending to look at AGA stoves (told you it was posh) but in reality looking out for my friend. Suddenly, in a swish of smiles and cheerfulness there she was. We embraced and looked each other up and down. She was just what I expected. Pure sunshine radiating from her beaming face and a very happy countenance. We agreed to adjourn to a local pub where for the next nearly four hours we laughed, chatted and had a thoroughly pleasant time. Just like old friends. We even took some photos. I've posted one below. Whether I was what she expected I don't know. She did say that I wasn't as "big" as she thought I was. (I'm in love for those words alone. LOL.) I do tend to think that I look like Father Christmas without the beard. So who was the vision of loveliness - and she really is. Why it's Ellie333 of course. She's on the right of the picture and my lovely wife to the left wearing spectacles. Don't know who the ugly one in the midle is. Just some man they met.
If you had the chance to meet a myLot friend how far would you be prepared to travel to see them?

Wow P1kefish, I am overwhelmed. I don't know whether it is correct (can't spell ettiquete LOL) or not for me to respond to this discussion as it is about me, but it isn't really, it is about us so I suppose that is okay. What a lovely way you have of describing the visit. I posted a discussion earlier but was having trouble posting, first one got lost in cyber space then photo didn't upload LOL. I had a wonderful day and it was an absolute pleasure meeting you both. In answer to your question though now having met you the minimum distance I would travel now would be 85 miles LOL and I have never given much thought to the how far. I think if I was visiting any of the areas some of my good friends on here were I would make an effort to visit if that is what they wanted too. Some I know do like to remain just virtual friends. My own friends away from myLot live in all different parts of the country and I make the effort to see them so really now having met you and been given confirmation that we are who we expect us to be upon meeting I'd like to meet more in the futrue if that makes sense. LOL Now I am waffling, you see your lovely wife was right I do chat a lot eh! LOL. Oh thank you so much once again for penning our meeting in such a fabulous way.
Oh and just for the record the one in the middle is not ugly, he is a great genuine guy, with a wicked sense of homour called P1kef1sh. Ellie :D

I thought that it was just the pub cat. Not a Kitty Kat. That's why I was given two jugs of milk with my coffee! One was for you. Get that carpet going. We want, no, need to see you. Come on your way to Goodie's. That way we can snuggle on the long, cold journey!

I don't think that there is any expectation that any of us will meet. But there are some people here that I have become friendly with on line and it seems a natural progression to meet them in the flesh if possible. You live in a big state. My whole country fits into somewhere like Texas!

Wow! that is great! I think it would be amazing to meet up with a few people I have met at mylot and have made my life seem a little brighter because of it. If I didn't have to worry about the cost of money I would surely love to meet winterose and a few others. I am sure I would be a total disappointment to them because I wouldn't be what they expected. Maybe you weren't as big because the camera adds a few extra pounds but compliments are always welcome no matter how we get them. In my case though they would say I look bigger then expected. But I am also shy when it comes to being face to face with people unlike with the internet, So they would have to break the ice or we'd be sitting twiddling our thumbs waiting for the other to talk. I bet you are a great person to meet in person because online you seem like a pretty nice fella. So cheers! to meeting new and interesting people online..

Sadly no I do not have long distance, but I had forgot about skype. I don't have a microphone but I downloaded Netmeeting yesterday with my new webcam but no microphone. I like using Yahoo and talking that way and others can even call each other or go into a conference room and talk that way. I know we can be or act like anyone we want to on here and unless we are met no one would really know the difference but I feel that you shoot straight from the hip and are exactly like you say you are no pretending to be something you are not. Well, maybe one of these days I will be able to take a trip and meet some of the people I have met through Mylot it would be a great experience for me.

I would love to meet you and hear all about your life and your brother in law's chickens etc. LOL. I bet that you aren't half as quiet as you think that you are really. I don't know whether I really am such a great person to meet in the flesh, but I am flattered that you think so. In the meantime though, I loved meeting Ellie and I love "chatting" to my on line friends too. Maybe you could try calling Winterose and the others. If you don't get free long distance calls, try something like Skype. I chat to a few people that I have met on here. It really is a most liberating experience.

If time and money were no object I'd go as far as Australia to meet online friends, I've got online friends from loads of places, Australia's the furthest away though. I have an online friend who lives in Mauritius and I think that's the first place I'd go as it would also be a holiday for us.
I think I'd like to meet all my online friends actually, they're all lovely online, so I assume they'd be just as lovely in the flesh.

There are so many that I would love to go meet. Of course, topping my list, My Fish, Cyn, Bella, Tee, Natrak, Angel, Sparks, Nova, Goodie. I could go on and on. It's times like this I was wealthy and I could just travel the globe and see all the wonderful places that everyone lives, hang out and have a load of fun. It would be awesome.

That's awesome. I'm really liking these stories I'm hearing about meeting Mylot people away from the computer. I'm really glad you had a positive experience. I don't think I know many people online in my area. Of course I wouldn't mind traveling a little bit to get a chance to hang out with a person I've been talking to. I think that's awesome.

I am very fortunate in Mrs P1ke. She approves of my activities here and was very pleased to come along. Made me look less of a pervert than I am!! No arm twisting at all. We had a lovely time too. But I do know that partners can be difficult at times though. But not mine, at least not over this.

That sounds like you had a really lovely time. I'm glad you got to meet someone from here and that it all turned out nice.
I have never physically met any new people from myLot but I have met people from other sites. The farthest I travelled was a little over 20 miles to meet someone for the first time, however, there was one person who came to me first but I did visit him subsequently. That would be approximately 87 miles away which means that it was probably further in mileage as I went on public transport!
I like to visit new places so really the only barriers for me would be the lack of time and money but, if there were no such barriers, I would travel any distance if I thought that the new person was special enough. I've heard Salisbury is a nice place and definitely know someone there who would be worth the 136 mile journey. :)

It is such a great story. Nice to see people who met just because of Mylot.
I am sure that you guys didn't talk about Mylot, but everything else.
I bet your wife will join Mylot now to be part of great community.....
No doubt, Ellie is very nice....

I'm not sure how far I would travel to meet a friend from Mylot. I am scared to travel and I am afraid to meet new people. It never works out when I try to have friends and meet them in person. I am a very friendly person but people just do not take to me very well for some reason. I would rather talk to people online if possible. It works out alot better for me.

I'm still crossing my fingers that your daughter will choose to attend a university on the east coast. Then I would travel as far south as I needed to to meet you and your wonderful family.
I think my limit is 3 hours on a plane otherwise and they have to be in an area where I will have something else to do. Some dizz blond down in Fl might one day find me on her door step if I ever do take that vacation there I have been planning for the past 8 years.
