i have read online that zapping your sponge for a minute in the microwave kills the bacteria and germs on it. i do this all the time and wonder if others do it too. do you microwave your sponges? btw, extra care should be taken when doing this- make sure that you supervise the sponge and do not exceed a minute! also, if your sponge is moist, let it cool first before squeezing it since the water inside would be very hot after being microwaved!

Yes, I do microwave my sponges from time to time. I also read that it kills the germs on your sponges. I always leave it in the microwave to cool off after I do it.

Yes, I do it often. I read about that many years ago. I do change my sponge every two weeks though. I use the old one for floor spills or cleaning around the bathroom. Then toss them.
