I am just wondering why many people just choose to live in so far out near the woods. Where a gas station is not around. I could not stay so far out like that. I will have to be close.. I have to be cautious about living so far out. I would prefer to live close where I can see other houses and buildings..

I, too, prefer to be closer to other people. Although I enjoy a few days out in the woods, I don't think I'd want to live there all the time. I don't know why people do that but when I was younger I'd dream of a cabin in the woods and never seeing people unless I drove into a town for supplies. I have no idea why I wanted to do that!

That's no different than living down south with a mile or two full of road before any sign of life. I could never do that. That's why I'm happy that I live in suburbia, lol. I need to see houses, people, cars, etc. That makes me feel comfortable, like knowing every thing's okay or something.

I would love to live out in the country where my nearest neighbor is about a mile away. I like my privacy. And living in town, you don't get that. Your neighbors know just about everything that you do. I would prefer the country any time over the city.

I think is called escape. I'd rather live with no one around, its more peaceful, I can come and go as I please and I don't have to be responsible for anybody but me.

I live that way. I can't stand building, crowds and noise around me.
I am very secluded and live about 7 miles outside of a small town that has about 700 people in it. Malls and Walmart are day trips because they are 2 hours one way.
When I step outside at night I see nothing. You never know how dark - dark can be until you step outside on a moonless night in the mountains.
But I love it this way.

That's what I would call paradise! I love being around nature! The city is filled with pollution and way too much noise. We just bought a couple of acres with a nice old home on it in the country. It is 6.5 miles from town and there are no neighbors for 2.5 miles. I can't wait to move in!!

Nature is certainly beautiful, but
there are the obvious drawbacks.
When you live out in nature, you have to
deal with the nature critters like
racoons and bears and deer and rabbits
and other things like fleas and ticks.
Those are no fun.
Once we lived very far out in the country,
but the gas station/mini-mart was just down the block.
So it wasn't so bad.
Otherwise the nearest grocery store was twenty miles
away.

HI Cream, i have lived in a place away from city and every weekend we all used to go to buy the stuff for living. ITs fun. The only problem is at night its hard to go out, security thing. Even we were scared of snakes around night. I feel the theif will be scared too.
Now we are staying in the city area. enjoy :)

hi, I used to love and admire those living far away.
But after watching so much movies about the lunatic and mad people killing for fun, I think I am better livign close to other houses and buildings where I can scream for help. LOL. I can't help but be cautious just like yourself. We don't live in such a peaceful world anymore.

I would love to be able to afford the acreage to do that. That would be wonderful. I'm a loner by nature and hate having neighbors real close to me. I have a friend who has a house like this and I have stayed there a couple of times and it is wonderful to grab a cup of coffee in the morning and sit on the back porch with nobody to bother you is just wonderful. It's so peaceful and the nature is so beautiful to watch.

My mother always chose to live out "in the boonies" as we always called it. She said she liked the peace and calmness that it brought. She said it was nice to not have the neighbors right there, always butting in.
