Obama Changes Presidential Seal

Is this another indication of trouble ahead? I have a serious problem with Obama following up on an issue that his admired friend Islam Leader LOUIS FARRAKHAN has with the presidential seal. Why would Obama's new seal show the shield being replaced with the letter "O" - presumably for Obama - and the image of a RISING SUN....The rising sun in in the EAST where most of our enemy countries are located! Does anyone else have a problem with this or can you explain to be why this is a good idea?
Obama Changes Presidential Seal

Sen. Barack Obama has promised "change," and his campaign has already been hard at work changing one of the basic symbols of the nation - the Presidential Seal.
On Friday, the press was abuzz over the new seal, which was unveiled on Obama's podium when he spoke to a group of Democratic governors.
While the Obama seal does include the American bald eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, the resemblance ends there.
In the 1990s, such activists promoted the alternative concept of the nation's ethnic "mosaic" - rather than a single, overarching metaphor to describe American society. For example, Nation of Islam Leader LOUIS FARRAKHAN has pointedly criticized the "E Pluribus Unum" motto as not reflecting the nation's diversity.
Other Obama changes to the seal include the removal of the shield over the eagle's breast, representing the president's oath to defend the Constitution. The shield has been replaced with the letter "O" - presumably for Obama - and the image of a RISING SUN.
"This is too serious a contest about too serious of issues for a candidate to be playing make-believe on the trail," Brian Rogers, a spokesman for presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain, told The Los Angeles Times.

Whiteheather,
This just shows that in his mind he has this sewed up! He is about change (what we don't know) and as I have said in many of my posts; we (all of us, liberals and conservatives) will not like his changes whatsoever!

While I have not actually seen the new seal, or head this news anywhere but in this disussion, I do hae a problem with the fact that someone thinks they an hange the original preidential seal. I don't care what the new one looks like or what it reflects. I don't think one president should hae the power to chane it, regardless.

Hmm.... I seem to remember some guy in Germany changing his country's symbol some time ago. Whatever happened to that guy? Are people still fans of his symbol?
Ok, so I know I'm getting all extreme with that and people are gonna rail on me for it, but who is this guy to make changes to our country's motto and symbol? His "Yes we can" bit concerns me too. the kind of thing that could be looked back on if he commits atrocities where people will say "He said Yes We Can. I guess he was right" I can't get over the fact that every day this guy is raising more and more red flags. How can people not see that?

I remember that guy very well and he was also given the "gift of the gab" or charisma just as Obama uses to ensnare all the people who are believing all his crap.

I pay very little attention to what Obama's antics are since I don't like him at all. But this one is going to be his road to perdition I think. The Presidential seal was created to incorporate everything this country is supposed to stand for and messing with that will bring him a lot of problems.
Preaching about change and forging his campaign on change is fine when he applies to the areas that need change, but he is carrying the change issues a little too far in my opinion. I would hope that most Americans agree with that, but then again I may be in error since the Americans today think it is ok to burn the flag and ignore constitutional mandates.
It has been said of all these countries seeking their independence now that they lack a constitution to use in establishing their government, well maybe we should give them ours since we don't use it anymore.

You said "well maybe we should give them ours since we don't use it anymore". That is really funny but sadly true! I fear for our country if Obama is president but then it will be too late to do anything about it. I pray that the Obama mania come to an end soon.

It is his campaign logo!
Not anything more or less. His campaign logo.
Geez you people really need to get a grip on yourselves. There is nothing about ethenticity. There is nothing Muslim or Islamic. There is a latin statement "vera possumus" which roughly translates to "yes we can" and replacing the shield is the trademark "O".
It is designed by marketers. It is not intended to preplace the Presidential seal in the future. It is a campaign logo!

I guess you need to tell his campaign people to get a grip as they have decided not to use it again!!!!http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080623/ap_on_el_pr/obama_seal;_ylt=AkzL0We.fMjnzU5Wq3745LFh24cA

I guess you again need to have better news sources. They had already said it. Again, campaign logo. Created for marketing. Unveiled in test market. People either like it or don't like it. People either react positively or negatively.
Not intended to replace Presidential Seal as depicted by original post that started this stream of discussion. Intended as campaign logo as I stated and as relevant and normal media stated at the time it was unveiled, not as right wing media stated.
Your last post only proved my point.

May I borrow your comment "Your last post only proved my point" as did yours... another Obamamaniac ...dumb and blind to what his intentions really are... he is so good at cop-outs.

I understand from an article I just read that Obama will not be using the seal anymore on his podium. The seal was first used by Rutherford B. Hayes who authorized its creation in 1880. He was the president to do so.He used it on invitations and on the presidential flag. E Pluribus Unum is from the Latin for Out of Many, One. That can mean several things to me. The first being that out of many states come one union. The second is that out of many ancestries, races, and peoples has come one nation and one people. A melting pot as it were.
My information about the presidential seal is from

I really think this is ridiculous. He is over stepping the rights of everyone. Why would he even want to do this?He is no even president yet and he is working on an ideal like this?We should take a good look at the red flags. This is disgusting.

"Why would Obama's new seal show the shield being replaced with the letter "O" - presumably for Obama - and the image of a RISING SUN....The rising sun in in the EAST where most of our enemy countries are located"
Okay, changing the presidential seal is a stupid idea. I'll give you that. But as far as where the sun is rising, I don't think it has much to do with symbolism or where our enemies are.
The sun actually does rise in the east. And it sets in the west. That's just nature. A picture of the sun rising in the west would make us look pretty ignorant of nature.

I think most people are already actually aware the sun rises in the east. It does not take too much imagination to think he is alluding to his promised changes not rising here in the west but coming from the east.

I have to state, that we don't know for sure that is the intent of that logo. It COULD be that he is stating that when he becomes president, it will be the dawn (rising sun) of a new change. That we will become united (circle). Now what that means for sure I have no idea, but I really don't see McCain as any better, so unless you want to run for president as a liberal, then there are our choices.

Now I can see where this could concern a person, but the circle can represent so many things. Not just Obama, because he isn't going to be the last one (at least I hope not!). The circle could represent a coming together with the East and creating a peace. OR it could as you say be a true coming together with the East in a whole different way entirely.
I guess we won't know, but I have yet to see where McCain will be any better. I would not have voted for Hilary either because of some interesting facts about over 100 murders that happened when they were in the White House, most of them directly related to Bill's infidelities.
Maybe I should run for president. lol. I am not easily swayed by corruptive influences and know right from wrong. Pretty easy to get along with and am peaceful with the foreigners I have had to work with. Of course, if a nation is determined to hate us, they will no matter who is in office. And Obama needs a wake up call in regards to that.
