I am wanting to guess this is about a 1961 or possibly older Impala. I loved the huge old "cherry" light and also the personalized plates from New Jersey. At the Back To R+The 50's Car Show here this weekend in Minnesota the cars were from all over the USA, Canada, and mexico as well. Over 11,000 registered cars/entrants. Packed with old timer cars trucks etc. I had a blast. Do you remember Mayberyy R.F.D.?

Not if I recall correctly. I actually think that Chevy was their main sponsor for the show back in the early 60's. This looks so long because I was down low to get a good shot is all.

I use to have an Impala. It was a 1979 I believe. Dad gave it to me for college. I drove the heck out of it for many years until I burnt the motor up in it. I do remember Mayberry RFD.
I am a bigger fan though of the early Andy Griffith Show...up until Barney left.

I will comment on the photo when I see it after I post this email.
I do love the the old impalas. My bother in-law has an old impala that he completely restored. He then sold it and got a pretty penny for it.

I loved Mayberry R.F.D., I believe it was a spinoff of the Andy Griffith show, which I also love and still watch on the TV land channel.. How can you even come close to seeing all of the 11,000 cars packed into that show.. I bet it takes all day and then you still miss a lot, but I do know it had to be fun to go.. Glad you had a good time grandpa..

I thought that The Andy Griffith Show was the spinoff.
We didn't see them all. They had parades all day long coming and going down the streets as people walked. Here is a shot of part of one of the parades.

It may have been the other way around, I am not sure, but I do remember watching both of those shows.. Great shots of the parade.

I do remember Mayberry R.F.D. My sons both watch The Andy Griffith Show and comment on the "odd" cars ya'll had back then (i was all of three but to hear these two you would think i had been grown back then). Actually when i was a teen i owned a 72 impala-i hated it it stayed broke all the time, of course it was old,but still.
