Happy 18th Birthday!

It's finally here, today is stepson's 18th birthday. I gave him his cake last night because he was hungry for it lol. We still did the whole candle thing though...except I miscounted and only had 17 candles left so we stuck a big taper candle in the middle of the cake for the 18th candle. It was kind of cute. He even acted all surprised about it in a funny way even though he already knew what I was doing. Today he went to the mall, his dad will give him his present in a little while when he gets home, and then later a couple more friends are stopping by. He's got in in his head that he's going to go out to a strip club tonight LOL with another friend that's already of age but we'll see if that really happens lol! I can't reflect back on the day he was born since I wasn't there...although I do know a bit about his birth anyway, but I can say that it's been an interesting 12 years since i've known him. We went from me being the girlfriend and later wife of his dad's friend, to being his dad's new girlfriend that he liked, to him totally hating me, to where we are now...getting along really well and him considering me as a parent to him. I've come to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter how you give birth to a child....a woman in labor goes through a lot but then forgets all the bad once she lays eyes on her precious baby. A step mom goes through a lot too, but it all fades away once she and the child reach a positive relationship with each other. He still drives me nuts with his antics, but that's typical of any teenager, but all the hard times we had are forgotten and forgiven. He's 18 now, we've done the best we could do even though it wasn't nearly enough at times. Our job is not over by a long shot but at least we can officially say that we've gotten one child into adulthood!
