People sometimes just cannot mind their own business

I have this Aunt who just creates chaos amongst an otherwise serene and docile family everytime she visists us. She is the kind who just loves to carry tales about 1 member of the family to the other while adding a lot of spice on her own. This creates a lot of unwanted discord and invariably takes some time for things to settle down. It then starts again. I have decided I need to do something about it because I have been at the receiving end of her tall tales. The problem here is that she is the wife of Eldest Uncle (Late) on my Dad's side, and because of the respect that he had within the family none of the other elders want to ruffle any feathers. Should I confront her directly ?
