That is interesting. It must be a regional occurrence. Here it is customary to wear the watch on your left wrist if you are right handed, and on the right wrist if you are left handed. I would imagine the reason for this is for practicality, it won't get in the way so much when it is on the lesser used arm...but as it is I find it easier to read my watch when it is on the left I do not know if this is because of habit, because it is my weaker wrist, or because I read from left to right in which case it should be easier for most people to read it on their left, hehe.

Hello,
Have no answer for this except to say I have always worn mine on my right wrist and have rarely seen this on anyone else, male or female. Which one to you wear yours on?

I have always worn my watch on my left arm. I am right handed and wearing a watch on my right arm would be in the way. I thought everyone wore a watch on the opposite arm of their primary arm. I never knew women to wear a watch just because they were a female on their right arm.

I remember this "rule" from my younger days, but never put much faith in it. I don't know where or how they idea got started, but it apparantly wasn't very widespread. Nowadays I see fewer and fewer people wearing watches (perhaps because cell phones have clocks?), so we may never know.

I am a woman... but i wear my watch on my left hand... most people in my country... whatever their gender is... wear their watch on the left hand... except when a person is left handed... they would usually use the right hand for their watch... i think this is because... we do always use our right hand and we do not want the watch to get in the way... that is why we put it in the left hand...

Do they? I thought it's a matter of individual preference?
In fact, most people I know (girls and boys) wear their watches on the left hand.

I'm a woman and I wear my watch on the left arm because I'm right handed and I use my right hand to put the watch on my left arm, to check time, wind up, etc.

I wear my wrist watch only in my left hand. I dont remember seeing women wearing wrist watch in right hand, except two of my friends who are left handers.
I wear it only for fashion or in those times when I dont carry a mobile. Now a days it have become very rare to see people wearing wrist watches.

i've never heard of this. i don't wear a watch or anything but most of the people that i know (women too) wear a watch on the left hand. maybe you just encountered some strange women? It could be a new fad that I don't know anything about. I'm not very hip.
