Living with and fighting fibroids

I'm a 39 year old woman and I have had fibroids for some time. My experience with fibroids have made it hard for me to hold down full time employment due to the excessive bleeding and absences during those times of the month. Also causing me to be dangerously enemic. When going to the doctors, I was always given choices for treatment that included surgery, putting me in early menopause with questionalble medications and vaccinations that are new to the market, and so forth. Since then I have been trying alternative treatments and diet changes to help with the bleeding and possibly shrink the fibroids. What I couldn't understand is if estrogen helps fibroids to grow, why is the first thing a medical doctor want to prescribe is birth control pills which are full in estrogen, especially if the goal is to become fertile and conceive a child? I also don't understand since they say these fibroids will shrink natrually after menopause anyway, why are doctors promoting such extreme treatments with such lasting consequences and side effects? I was going to a chinese herbalist at one point, but I couldn't afford to keep going. I must say the herbs did help control the bleeding while I was under his care. I've also tried limiting my consumption of meats and foods that are pumped full of hormones that are passed down to the person who consumes it. I'm gonna begin taking a product called Fibrovan soon, as this is supposed to be safe and effective in shrinking fibroids. Just want my life and body back. If anyone has had any experience with Fibrovan please feel free to share.
