Drafting

Though I am not new to riding motorcycles, I am new to the phenomenon of drafting; but not in the way you might think. I have experienced the suction that can be caused by following close to a large truck, but now it seems to be magnified. Here's why. Just recently I have purchased a new(to me)motorcyle. Having never owned a large CC engine before (1400), I decided I would get acquainted with this new-found power. For the first few days I felt like my clothes and helmet were going to be blown off me while riding this powerful machine, so I decided to purchase my first windshield. Now, I feel like my clothes and helmet are going to be pulled off me; especially when following a big 18 wheeler with the intent of passing. The difference was a 180 degree turn-a-round. I literally had to brace myself against my handle bars as I was pulled along. I've never heard anyone discuss this before. Does anyone find this phenomenon as fascinating as I do? Does the windshield really make that much difference or is it my imagination? I'm just one of many who decided to go back to bike riding because of the gas prices and this has really been a world of fun.
