I think I broke my toe.

yesterday morning I somehow fell down my stairs and I think I broke my big toe on my left foot. After about an hour I decided to go to work since the throbbing pain lessened and I thought if I walk carefully I would be okay. But not to be. After cleaning one house I was okay but after cleaning the second house, I tripped over an spike that was sticking up in their yard, in the grass, couldn't see it, and I reinjured my toe again. The second time I injured it, the pain was unbearable and I had tears come to my eyes. I cancelled the next two house we had left to clean because I couldn't stand the pain. My foot swole up so bad after the second injury and it is all black and blue and I can't walk on it at all. So today I figured I better cancel the houses we are supposed to clean as I think I better stay off of my foot and give it at least one day to heal a little. I can't really afford to lose the pay today but I don't have a choice as if I hurt it again who knows how much damage I will do to it and it will take longer to heal and I'll miss even more work. So have you ever broken your toes before? I have broken the little ones before but this is the first time I have broken my big toe, and boy, I sure hope it is the last time, because it really hurts.
