This Saturday is my son's 3rd birthday. I am so excited for him. I hope that we will have a great day. The only thing that saddens me is that I still have no money. BUT, I have gotten gifts for him from the shelter, we are going to our favorite beach, and spending time with my fostermom(used to be my foster mom). I know that all of this will make him happy. Plus, I can get a cake with my foodstamps. So, has anyone else had to do things that were important on a low budget? What did you do? Anymore ideas for me?

At three years old all he wants is his Mama's attention. With our two boys we started out having a cookout for their birthday and requested that no gifts be brought. They are 12 and 13 now and that is still what we do and they love it because they get to see all their cousins and nobody feels bad if they can't bring a gift. I do make them each a cake and ice cream (their birthdays are 8 days apart so we have the cookout on the weekend in between).

yeah, the last time i went to the beach with the kids, they loved it, we brought a portable grill and had a great little picnic.
