Is it worth investing time online

We invest lot of time for online business like blogs, discussion, photosharing and all and expect that some dollars will come to our bank. myLot I have seen working well, and google blogs also to some extent. What about other programs? I know there are lot of experienced money makers active in myLot discussion. Please advise how to make better money. Is it worth putting our efforts online?
