Future Trends in Household Energy

It's year 2015, john Doe looks at his electric bill:
-$200.00 (it's no typo amigo, he's earning!)
(his 4-bedroom house is equipped with super efficient solar array and super efficient solar batteries. He sells power back to the electric company)
Interesting how it is a matter of costs and pricings that determines the migration into newer energy management equipment for the household
Perhaps the new factors are seen:
1. the lower cost for higher efficiency solar panels and batteries
2. the sky-rcketing costs of (dwindling) fossil fuel globally.
3. the policies of electric utilities - perhaps some have started paying households?
"I wish I could see that time when millions of people could invest into renewable energy and actually help save the planet while generating income for the home."
Perhaps it's a question of how fast the technology can make it happen so that the costs, prices and return figure are right.
There would be many implications: social, political, economic.
Anyone interested to share views on this?
