Mainstream

I was looking at my Naruto manga collection a few minutes ago, and it brought up a memory that I had with a friend. I remember her saying that she really did not like the series much anymore because almost everyone that is into anime and manga is into the Naruto series. And, she would ask me why I still liked it when it was a mainstream series. I had time to think it over, and one day, as I was reading the new chapter, she asked me again: Why do you like the Naruto series when everyone else does? And, I told her, as I tell everyone these days who seem to have something to say against the mainstream: Do you realize how ridiculous you sound? Everyone breathes, and everyone sleeps. Does that deter you? Some people talk, are you going to be silent? Most people walk, are you going to start using a wheelchair? Most people see, are you going to blindfold yourself? The things that you do every day are 'mainstream' in the world of human beings. As much as you complain about things being mainstream, I don't see you stopping those. Just because its mainstream, it doesn't mean its not any good anymore, does it? I don't care if you don't like the series, but don't hate it just because everyone else likes it.
Do you know anyone that does things or likes things to go against the "Mainstream"?

Ah, okay. Be glad you have not heard that, it is frustrating how people just drop things because it has become mainstream. I know that people do that here and there for things, but she did that for EVERYTHING, the Naruto example was just one of the many instances that she did that.
