When getting angry do you keep under control

I seldom get mad enough to fire off I will most often let it sit in my mind for days and think it through then speak to whomever about it. What about you? Do you have a hairtrigger? "Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference."

I have had a very bad temper most of my life. Now that I'm a little farther in life I've become a lot more philosophical when it comes to anger. I try to think of the reason behind the anger on both sides and do my best to come up with a solution to the underlying problem. Of course in situations where I'm caught totally off-guard, the old temper tends to rear it's ugly head and I react before I think. The quote you put up just happens to be one of my alltime favorites!

I just got tired of "Zapping" myself with my temper... These days the wisdom of the "Rede" is much welcomed by me! :)

Yep, I agree, things do tend to come back and bite us on the assets if we aren't thinking about our actions.

I am better than I used to be, but far from calm. I still have difficulty suffering the acts of what I perceive as fools. Sometimes I'm wrong and still fly off the handle.

Vlad. If I flew off the handle every time a FOOL crossed my path, I would have put my feet in a lot of arses by now. That's why I stay calm. Don't give the fools the satisfaction of knowing that their behaviour can make you mad. That only means that THEY HAVE CONTROL over your behaviour...another reason why I don't react angrily. Lol, I don't "fire off" often. The last thing I need is to throw a temper tantrum in front of all my coworkers. The older I get, and the more I deal with people, the more patient I get. I try to speak softly and carry a big stick and try to think of more creative ways to get my point across. I tell people all the time that "I don't get mad and I don't get even". So many people these days blow up and dramatize the most trivial things, I like to just sit back and lol...

I do not have a hair trigger but if I get pushed too far then I explode and there is no turning back.

When I get angry, I try to keep under control most of the time but sometimes it is very hard to do. I go through alot in my life and alot of different situations. I try to handle them the best way I can, but sometimes I get so tired of it and go off like a fool and feel bad about what I have said or done later.

There are times that I wish I had a hairtrigger temper because I tend to keep things bottled up, which isn't healthy and which can lead to an eventual explosion. When we were growing up my parents drummed it into our heads that you don't lose control and I do try to be reasonable when problems with others come up but there have been times when I wish I hadn't bitten my tongue off.

I am able to stay in control no matter how angry I get. If something is happening, I will do what I need to do to deal with it. MY husband tends to blow up, but is getting better at controlling himself. I have been trying to show him by good example how to stay in control of himself when frustrated.

I am better now at controlling my temper than when I was a kid. I still lose it if I become extremely angry. I don't lose it as often though.

Hi raydene! I have always managed to keep quiet, shut my mouth and just think the situation over. I have been able to control it somehow but there are slips though but those are really rare. I do agree with you that you can never win an argument with an idiot or make an idiot see some reasons. Take care and God Bless!

When i get angry it is never a pretty sight so i try my best to laugh just to avoid making horrible mistakes. people might think I'm stupid when i laugh instead of showing my anger but they just would not understand that i am doing myself and others a favor, secondly i stater when i get angry so its always best i just shut my mouth.

me too i seldom get angry but when i do i am like silent volcano who has been sleeping for centuries and then suddenly "BOOM" i exploded. that's the result of extending my patience for quite long and then when i can't handle it anymore i exploded. it Did happen already, and i don't want that to happen again. i don't want to see myself in that situation again. If i can still handle it my patience can still absorb it... i let it sit in my mind too and figure out what to do about it and how to address it. Then talk to the person concern....

I don't have a hair trigger, but once I blow, it'll take a long time to settle down. I do tend to let my anger eat at me, and every so often, it'll put me in a pre-ulcer condition.

When getting angry i locked myself in my room. I sometimes confront the culprit.I can't hide it to myself I think i will collapsed by the weight of the problem, so i usually like to share it with the people around me.

I am pretty quick to anger I must admit. I am not usually violent but that has happened on occasion in the past. My anger I know rises out of frustration and the fact that my expectations are sometimes not based in reality. I try to be aware of my physical signs when I'm getting angry so I dont go off like i have on occasion in the past.

Oh boy...when I was pregnant I told it how it was...I said alot of things I shouldn't to my husband....poor man!! lol But he understood. Now on a normal situtation I am one of those people who hold it in until I can't hold anything else in and then I cry and blow up. I need to work on that...it's getting better though.
