Seeds Sprouted

I had a small Lily along side the house that had seeds on the leaves. Seems this is more than likely the result of one of those seeds. There are other small lilies sprouting up as well in the same area but not this full. All the others are like grass blades with the typical lily leaves. You can see one of them in the lower right of this photo. I tried planting a bunch of these seeds last year. A few small lilies sprouted up but they seemed to have died off. Maybe next year they'll return bigger and last. Do you have any Lilies that have the seeds on the leaves? Do you try to plant them? Any success in this area at all?

I'm a bit sad about lillies at the moment actually. I had some lovely calla lillies in big pots infront of the house, but they've unexpectedly started dying off and I've no idea why. they were rescued form a neighbour's house when he did some renovations and I was rather surprised that they survived the transplant but they've been in their current spot for ages so I'm rather baffled as to why they're suddenly unhappy. I've just moved them this morning to under one of the olive trees in the hope that a change of scene will improve them.
As for lilly seeds, I've never tried. My lillies have always spread unaided.

Maybe change the soil as they are in pots. The soil gets old and things alter the soils content and the levels of acidity and protiens. That's all I can suggest. Add some lily food as you water them possibly may help.

I didn't know you could find and plant the seeds! I have a lily I bought last year and I now have 3 plants. One has yet to bud and bloom so I get to enjoy them later this summer, I hope!

The bulbs underground send off shoots for more flowers each year. the seeds are from females only for making more lilies. Odd but that's the way they do it I guess.

They are like a lot of plants. There is a male and female. Females have the seeds that drop off the leaves to spread more in that fashion. But all Lilies will spread out shoots underground from their bulbs. They do have to be seperated or they choke themselves out in time. I've been doing that all this spring and summer as you have seen. My yards look has changed so much this year.
