The New iMac is amazing, from it's aluminum outside, down to the core, where the computer really does it's thinking. From the basics, like USB 2.0, firewire, mail, and headphone jack, to the stunning built in camera, huge hard drive, 20 or 24 inch display, and sleek design. Now though, with intel on the mac's side instead of IBM, the mac can do more then ever before. Windows runs on intel chips, so your new mac can run windows. Windows will run at or close to native speed, just choose which os you want to use at startup! Also, each os will use a partition of the hard drive, so no one could even tell your mac was running windows just by looking at it. Also, Windows is easy to install, there are programs like parallels, that run leopard and windows side by side, or you could just use bootcamp to create a partition of your hard drive, and install windows just like you would install it on a normal pc. The mac comes pre-loaded with the basics, like Mail, Ichat, preview, and more, but the iLife '08 suite just sweetens the deal! Within the iLife '08 suite, there is iMovie, iDVD, Garageband, iWeb and iPhoto, all easy and fun to use. The mac also comes equipped with apple's newest os, Leopard, the coolest and fastest os yet! With many new features, such as stacks, which allows you to stack files, such as your downloads in one stack, pictures in another, etc. They are also very easy to access, for they sit on your doc, right next to the trash can. The mac's security is great! How many viruses are there for the mac? Ok, how many for the pc? Well, there are so few viruses for the mac that they can fit software that knows every virus made for the mac that automatically updates, and that has a fix for every virus, that they can fit it on one disc. So, what if a new virus comes out? Well, the designers are on it, creating a fix, and making it an update for your version for the program on your mac. The mac is more compatible as ever too, it just works. None of the going to the internet finding a driver for your digital camera, downloading it, and installing it, more than likely iPhoto will seamlessly open, and ask if you want to import your photos, though some things may require a program to run, like an older device. The mac has a version of many games available for the pc, Microsoft Office, The Adobe creative suite CS3, and many other fun programs, although you do have to buy a new version of all of the programs you want to use, unless they say otherwise. Also, some of the programs, such as Ultra Fractal don't work, but this is the only downside of the mac. I was very bummed when a $300 program I wanted did not work on the mac, for that is one of the main reasons I loaded it up with 4GB of ram, and a 320 GB hard drive, but the computer itself is amazing, once you find the programs you want. Right when you take the mac out of the box and plug it in, And simply attach the keyboard and mouse, you are ready to hit that power button! Just lightly touch the button, then you will hear the satisfying sound that macs make when they turn on, and leopard will guide you through everything else there is to setting up your computer, including getting your internet running! No more booting from a disc, no more vista, and say goodbye to those annoying warnings, because goodbye Vista, (XP is better than vista) because the imac is coming through! What is next for the mac, like the next os? Well, the next os will be Snow Leopard, the fastest, easiest and Most secure os yet! Apple is not adding new features, but they are re-renovating many apps, and making the whole computer work more efficiently. Have a macbook, Macbook air, or Macbook pro? Snow Leopard will work with less energy, making your laptop battery last longer on a single charge, a rumor that is flying around. Snow leopard is expected to come out in early to mid 09, but may only run on intel chips, not the former powerPc or IBM chips. In a world without walls and doors, who needs Windows and Gates?
