well, pretty soon I will be able to pick my green beans and start eating them, yummy I love fresh beans. But I got a question for you seasoned gardeners out there. I don't plan on canning or jarring them I want to store them in freezer bags and someone at work told me to blanche them. So if you do this can you please explain to me how to do this? Do I just put them on a quick boil or what? Thanks in advance.

To blanch green beans, get them ready by cleaning and snapping them, then put on a large pot of water and bring it to a boil. Put the beans in it and start timing when the water starts to boil again. In three minutes, remove the beans with a slotted spoon and rinse in cold water immediately. When they're cool enough to handle, put them in bags and freeze.

Thanks so much for the detail. I will definitely try this this week. Last week I was watching only one bean and after our rains I have a whole bunch almost ready to pick.

in my opinion they are better if you can them to put them in the freezer just bring a large pan of water to a boil. cook about 5 minutes, put them over in ice water. when they are cool drain & put them in bad\gs, that's all there is to it. freezing is alot easier than canning. good luck. had my first ones to eat last night & they were sooooo good. love fresh veggies!

Fresh veggies are even better when you put the effort in growing them yourself, plus you know for sure what and if pesticides were on them. Thanks for the tips.
