Do you get upset when Windows Updates Take over your computer and shut you down? It happens to me all the time. If I'm writing an email it will shut me down and take over the computer. I might as well not be there! Bill Gates is using my laptop! How do you manage Windows Updates? Is there a way to keep Bill away from your Computer?

Maybe there's a setting there to ask your permission when to download it and when to install it like WinXP has. I don't have Vista but for XP its in control panel, Security Center and Manage Automatic Update. There must be a similar setting or something.

Yes, I'm sure there is too, but I haven't found it yet. Bill doesn't bend over backwards to maake it easy for you. I wonder why they made Vista Home Basic so darned hard to get used to? I'm just waiting for the next version!

My daughter gave me this new laptop for Christmans and it is "Vista" and i admit i have had a few problems understanding it but i am getting better at it...My husband is using the desk top ,and that is what i used before i got this one ,this is my first laptop and i do like it but i am having to learn everything all over...I think Gates could have done better too, just because he is an expert and knows what he is doing that does not give him the right to think we can read his mind....The real bummer is by the time we learn this it will be outdated and something new will be for us to learn.....The only upside is he is keeping our minds sharp by trying to figure out what he is doing...Haha

I'm with you there, "slick"! we need a computer expert who knows how to contact Bill. I'd like to corner him about this Vista Home basic operating system. Personally I think he could have done better!

That's it exactly, and I'm not seeing any responses that are telling me an easy way to stop this silliness.
