8 Hours work in the office and most of the time you are sitting .you can exprience back pains, neck and shoulder pain and this may be a symptoms of slipped disk.. Sitting in a comfortable manner is important we have to make sure we sit in a right way and no joints are mismoved.for this may cause slipped disk.. As for me..although I am sitting in the front of the computer the whole day..I make it sure to stand time by time and stand carefully after a long hours of sitting.. It is important that we also take good care of our body and make sure we move our body in a careful manner..

To add, when you are sitting, place a pillow or rolled towel on your lower back. And don't stand too long either with both feet on the same level. From what I've learned, activities like ironing clothes, which involves standing up too long, one feet should be on a low stool in order not to subject your lower spine to too much strain.

I agree! We should not stick to only one position but try to make more to exercise our other body parts.

I find things like this so ridiculous. I don't know how you could possibly sit that would cause you to slip a disc, but I'm betting these people go out on the weekend, have an activity, slip a disc, and then try to claim they did it at work. Sitting on your butt all day isn't going to get you anything other than obesity. And the carpal tunnel thing is another one of my pet peeves. Guys at the office who hardly work at all try to claim they have that, so everyone has to tip toe around giving them too much work. I play piano, guitar, and I type like crazy... I have been typing since I was 6. No carpal tunnel. You know what's worse on your hands than typing? Writing by hand! Imagine that. I only know one person who has carpal tunnel and I actually believe it... she doesn't know how to type, writes everything by hand, and only has one hand so it gets used excessively. I would believe that she isn't lying when she says she has carpal tunnel. Because she does everything just with that one hand. Everyone else, I don't believe it.

I have a natural slouth and always tyr to get up and walk around sometimes to help out my back. I do feel it hurts sometimes, mostly my muscels are always tense. I have a chiropractor that I see every two months, it dose help seeing her. I just wish there was a more permanite solution to this problem so I didn't have to keep seeign her.
