Photography Club Update

A few weeks ago I made a post saying I was going to my first photography club meeting. Well, I lied. Something came up, and I ended up not being able to attend the meeting. However, I was able to attend tonight's meeting. I had a very enjoyable time! There are about 60 members in the club. And there's a wide range of experience and equipment. Some are professionals, some are amateurs. Some shoot digital, some shoot film. They meet twice a month, and at each meeting one of the members puts together a presentation teaching the other members about some certain aspect of photography. And once a month they have a "Show And Tell" where a topic is assigned and everyone goes out and shoots that topic, then shares their images with the group. The club also goes on field trips, has workshops, has an annual juried exhibition, and has several exhibition galleries up all over town where members can display and sell their photos. The club even has an exchange program where they send photographers to different countries, and has photographers from those countries come here! I had a great time at this meeting, and I definitely plan on attending the next meeting! It is such a great experience, and I would definitely encourage anyone interested in photography to join a local club. To see if there are clubs in your area, just do an internet search for the name of your city, town, state, etc. as well as terms like "photography club" or "camera club".
