Suppose you borrow 50 dollars from your mom, and another 50 dollars from your dad, you have a total debt of 100 dollars.
Then you bought a thing worth 97 dollars.
How much is your change? (3 dollars)
You returned 1 dollar to your mom.
How much do you owe her now? (49 dollars)
You returned 1 dollard to your dad.
How much do you owe him now? (49 dollars)
From your change, how much do you have now? (3-1-1 = 1 dollar)
Calculations:
49(for mom) + 49(for dad) + 1(left with you) = 99
Where is the 1 dollar?

You still have the 1 dollar. The logic is not correct, I agree. The premise is where is the remaining 1 dollar? If you think about it from the beginning you have $3 left on your possession. Give $1 to your mom and another dollar to your dad. How much money will remain? $3 - $1 - $1 = $1. And that dollar is with you.
It doesn't really doesn't matter how much you owe them in this premise. Take care.

Shoot typo on the last sentence. It should be, "It doesn't really matter..." sorry 'bout that.

This is great. However it is mind boggling and is getting on my nerves. Are you going to tell us where the dollar is. LOL! It is driving me nuts.

it is actually considered a joke since the logic is wrong. But i was also puzzled the first time i was told about this.
