So it is that time of year, school shopping.
With school starting here on August 8th, we hit the stores this weekend.
I have gotten a few deals, .01 rulers and more at office depot, $5 polo shirts and .17 crayons at Walmart.
Where is the best place to get a cheap backpack?Normally my son gets one from Disney.com but money is super tight, so that isn't happening this year.
I saw some at Wal-Mart for $10, but can you find one even cheaper?

Backpacks are the one thing I don't try to buy cheap. If I do, it falls apart in a couple months and I need to buy another one.
Well, if your child is very young and doesn't carry many books in it, a cheap one will probably be alright. But my son is in Junior High and carries way too much in his. I haven't started to look for one yet this year, so I'm not sure about the prices. But Walmart is usually where we get most everything.

If my son was older, I would not be skimping on a backpack. The $20 from Disney usually last all year long (I like them b/c you can get the matching lunch kit). If he was older I would be putting $40 out for a Jansport. No matter how hard you are on backpacks those seems to last more than one year.

school here doesnt start til september but already stuff is out. i find that cheap backpacks only last about a year. if you spend a little extra, it may last more than one year...unfortunately (or fortunately) my parents buy our daughters back packs so they only buy cheaper ones (anywhere from $14 - $19).

I got a good one at Old Navy for about $8. It lasted a long time- longer than the cheap ones you find at Walmart. You can also find some good deals on clothes there. And lots of school supplies at the dollar store.

That is probaly about the cheapest you will find one. But remember you get what you pay for. The cheaper back packs will not last very long the material is not very good. I opeted to buy my son a little bit more expensive backpack that we bought 4 years ago and it still does not have even one lose thread on it.

I suggest Big Lots. Before I had a Tax ID for business, I used to donate to charity for organizations that help kids in need get school supplies. Now, however, I use dollardays.com because I get it in bulk and it's cheaper. But for a regular store, definitely Big Lots or you could even try the Dollar Tree. Believe it or not, Dollar Tree has a lot of great stuff.

Generally, WalMart will probably have the cheapest bags. If you happen to have an Army-Navy surplus store near you, you can get a sturdy, cheap bag there, too. Or if you have a bit of luck, you might find a good one at a thrift store, but they are probably pretty scarce this time of year.

Money is tight for us also. I think you may be able to go to the dollar store or a place like that and get one for about $5.00 or $7.00. I would say that they will not last long though. I would suggest that you get the $10.00 one from Walmart. I bet it will last alot longer. I know alot of people are having a hard time right now. We are too.
