dog found after 6 1/2 years?

i just heard on the news that a dog named "timber" was lost six and a half years ago while the owner let him out to use the bathroom(they thought that he was taken or killed by someone)and six years later(a few days ago)someone called them and told them that they had their dog(they knew it was him because of the chip that they found in the dog)and the family couldn't believe it...neither could i...who would have thought that they would have found a dog and returned it to their owners after that many years...so what do you think about this story...would you believe it if someone told you this story? thanks for reading my discussion!

I have to wonder how the owners and the dog felt. The owners were probably delighted. I know that dogs know who their owners are, but did the dog recognize them immediately, or did he have to somewhat re-adjust? I have just never heard anything like this, as far as dogs go. This is very interesting, and I am happy for the family that was able to regain their dog Timber.

Hello jhl. I think that I would believe it if I was told about it many years later, but I am wondering if the dog would be able to recognize me as his master?
