Do you like yours?
I absolutely love mine! It is so small and compact and easy to take anywhere. It has a small screen, but it's such an easy to see screen. You can view it from any angle, unlike my old laptop that had to be turned just right. It has the best built in speakers of any laptop I've ever heard, it works like a DVD player when you want to play movies on it, which is awesome (except, you can't actually put a DVD in it, you have to copy it to a memory card first to watch it on there, which is cool because that's less bulky).
Of course, it came with Linux, but I've also tried: Windows XP, Windows 3.1, and DOS on mine so far. Windows XP starts up a little slow, but then works fine. Windows 3.1 starts up the fastest. I love using this laptop for DOS because you can actually slow it down when you're playing old DOS games. It is so awesome that you can almost anything you'd ever want to on this tiny little laptop.

how much memory (RAM) do you have? I've been seeing these Asus's in the mall and the price is so tempting...and from myLot I've learned that the downside was that it was slow. So my thought of postponing my choosing of laptops.

I'll have to double check the specs on that, I already forgot. I do remember that the 8GB model also had more RAM than the cheaper 2GB model (the ones usually seen in the mall). That one isn't supposed to be slow if you leave it in Linux, but my computer guy brother claims you should not try to run Windows on it or you will be sorry (unless you want Windows 3.1, in which case, go right ahead).

One of my friends just got the 2GB Surf (the slowest one of all). She doesn't know much about computers or Windows or any of the Windows programs, so I showed her Linux before she bought it and she actually ended up liking that version of Linux. But I got annoyed with it quickly and run Windows on mine instead. So I guess it just depends on how much you like Windows. I did like Linux for some things, but I probably would have liked on of the earlier versions more where commands are needed to get around, considering I used to really like DOS and that was all done with commands.
