I have been smoking for over 20 years. I know this is a stinky and very unhealthy habit. My question is how many of you smoke? I know it isn't as common as it used to be. If you do not smoke, have you ever? For anybody that has quit, how did you do it?

No, I've never smoked... it just never appealed to me - I had better things to do with the money. I feel lucky that i never got drawn into it because I doubt I'd have the will power to quit. Now, I work on a respiratory ward so wouldn't be tempted to start.

(Raises Hand) I've been a smoker well over 10 years. I've quit once for over a year while I was pregnant, but went back to it. Every so often I decide to try to quit, but it doesn't last long. I don't think I'll truly be able to quit while my husband continues to smoke. It's like giving up chocolate and watching him eat a chocolate cake.

I do smoke, and you are right it is a unhealthy habit. But you know what I enjoy it so, I do. I try to be very conscious of people that don't so mostly I do in the privacy of my own dwelling.

I enjoy it too. I don't mind not smoking in public places because it is very obnoxious for people who do not.

Hi laglen. I was a smoker for 14 years up until 2 years ago. It was hard to quit but I had to due to a re-occurence of pre-cancer in my cervix. I would never start again because it was very hard to quit in the first place. I would crave cigs even 6 months after I had stopped. Now, I even on occasion would like one, but I value my life so I just say no, ha ha. To quit I used zyban from the doctor. Some people can't quit on it but it worked well for me. I think the main thing is determination. If you are determined you will make it. You need the determination to get through the cravings or you will not succeed.

i hate smoking and have never done it. but all through my childhood my step-mom smoked near me. She tried to quite several times. the nicotine gum and patches would only last about a week. Hypnotism worked the best actually and lasted several months. but sadly, she always relapsed for some reason or another. I hope you decide to quit. good luck!

I don't smoke. My husband does, but I do not. I never understood the point o smoking. Mot people I talk to who smoke tell me that they do so because when they tarted "everyone else was doing it." What kind o an excuse is that? Tese are the same people who will tell ohers never do sucumb o peer pressure. How ca they tell us ot to do something that they so willingly did themseles?

Well I smoked for almost 32 years and then quit for almost 3 years. Got stupid relapsed and quit again on the 7th of this month. It is hard to quit but I have just done it cold turkey each time. Making it harder is my hubby and best friend are smokers. To top that off I put my back out the other day and I dont care what anyone says smoking does help when in pain. But I will suffer thru I guess. If you are trying to quit or are even thinking of it, good luck.
