Working hard is really important to achieve what we want but also need to work smart, if we don't, somehow what we work hard for would be useless.

I would say a good combination of the two. You can work hard, but also work smart at the same time. By doing this you are showing your employer or whoever that you are not afraid to work hard when you have to, but you are also showing the smarts needed to perform a certain job or take care of the job quicker by adding in some smarts!

I prefer smart work to hard work as I have always been one for using my brain over my strength, mainly because I have more brains than strength actually I have very little strength indeed.

HELLO my friend. i am student of bca and i face many interviews in 1 year.so it depend on ur work because if i am a fresher then i worked as a trainee and it is hard work job. if i am a experienced then i do know about some work so i prefered to smart work job.

I think, if work can be done smartly then what is the use of doing it the hard way? Yes, if the work needs hard work alone (like labourers' work) then there's no escape. But quality of handling work will determine your work quality and will surely impress your seniors too. I think you must always give a two-sided (can say diplomatic) answer in an interview and not be rigid on a yes/no or option1/option2. I guess the matter I've discussed must be the ideal answer to the question in an interview.
