Video Camera Help Please

My daughter and I are shopping for a video camera. She wants to purchase one before August 1st for a book event night at the place that she works. The event promotes book reading and this particular one is a Stephenie Meyers Book.
I would like to know what kind of video camera you have or would buy? She needs to get a light weight one, as she will be carrying it often. The bookstore has events like this one quite often. I feel this is a great way to promote reading. Any advice would be great.

A video camera is a great thing to have and I have been wanting one for a long time but I don't have the money. If I do have the money I would want one that is small and light and has good battery life. I don't know about dvd or hd. Cheers!!

I don't know much about video cameras themselves. But if I did find one I like and am comfortable handling, I would be sure to get a tripod for it. This way the picture is a lot steadier and does not move every time you breathe in and out. I would also look into getting extra batteries and a good battery charger for it. I would do a lot of comparing and researching before purchasing.

That is a wonderful way to promote reading...but I am not sure what kind of camera to buy.... I have a little video thing on my digital and have a movie camera I havnen't used in years....but would like to get one myself! I'll have to check back and see what everyone comes up with.
