Making French Toast/ Eggy Bread

This must be one of the favourites for breakfast. If you haven't made it before, you mix eggs with milk and salt (or sugar - depending on your tastebuds in the mornings), dip slices of bread in the mixture and then you fry it. It's nyummy and fills you up quite well! Have you tried it before? Have you got any variations or additions to the recipe?

We whip the egg and milk together, add vanilla or almond extract, sugar, and cinnamon. We sometimes bake it, but we usually throw it on the pancake griddle and cook it that way. We serve it with jam or jelly or syrup. It is a great, tasty treat, and is super filling. I don't think I've ever had it with salt, as you describe, though.

SALT? *faints* what in the world, I have never heard of using salt, and must admit that I feel like I should clean my tongue. Okay, I don't mean to be rude, I promise you I don't. I wanted to stop by here and say, yep i've had it. It's very yummyness, and I really like it with maple syrup! um, other then that, variation would be cinnamon sugar one time!

I've actually tried it with sugar before and didn't like it. With salt, it's just like eating eggs on bread I don't have sugar in anything anymore either so it's ok for us

Hmm, well to each their own and I can't judge a book by it's cover. I've just never heard of that but if it tastes like eggs? Something I might just try then! I appreciate the tip, Hope your having a wonderful day!

I don't add anything to my milk egg mixture when I make french toast I just dip the bread in the egg and then when it is done we put butter and syrup on the french toast and enjoy. Yummy.

It's extra good if you can use thick slices of french bread. Add a few drops of vanilla to the egg/milk batter too. I ate at a restaurant in Washington that would dip the eggy bread slices in corn meal before frying. That was good too, it gave it a slightly crunchy texture on the outside.

I make my french toast preferably with french bread. With the milk and eggs I add sugar, vanilla flavoring and along with that some cinnamon. After frying I like to top with strawberries. Delicious!

Yes I do. I just add one ingredient. I leave out the salt (I have high blood pressure) and add cinnamon. It really gives it a nice flavor. The kids will love it! Oh, I also use this twist egg bread. It comes out less soggy and sweeter.

I don't have any variations, but I have made it before. My kids just love it, just like they love pancakes. Hmm, I think I will make it this weekend for the kids. It's been awhile since they last had it and I would like to have some too. Have a nice day

Oh gosh I LOVE french toast! I love to get the flavored sweet breads, I forget who makes them. But they are like the cinnamon flavored, or raisin bread works great too. I think it adds quite a bit of flavor and they cook up the exact same way!
