When I upgraded Firefox, somehow I deleted my bookmarks.

Have you ever done anything like that? I am adding back in all of my writing sites, earning sites, and job search sites. I also of course am adding back my click charities. http://www.thehungersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=1 This site lets you click to feed the hungry, feed hungry animals, preserve the rainforest, support breast cancer awareness, support early literacy. It is a really neat site. I also click at freerice.com. A vocabulary site that lets you earn rice to feed the hungry.

That happened to me once. I didn't really think of how it happened until I read this discussio. Firefox has upgraded in my computer a few times, and one I did wake up only o ind that all of my bookmarked had disappeared into hin air. I wonder why that happened. Oh well, nothing to be done about it now. I'm glad you are working on geting all of your ack.

There was one time that I did something like this. My computers are all tied together. My husband accessed one of the other computers and copied the bookmarks and the pasted them into the computer that was missing them. After that, I keep a list of my sites saved in a file in another program such as WordPerfect or Word.

I seldom lose my bookmarks by mistake because I get somebody to do updates for me and sometimes when it is my hard disk that needs upgrading I just let a technician do it for me and they usually ask what I need saved.

did you happen to check for the backup folder from the old bookmarks?
it would be in C:\Documents and Settings\owner\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\gk1mogwx.default\bookmarkbackups
owner and the gklmogwx are dependent on your user name and the identity firerox assigned you
you just rename the file bookmarks and then copy it over to C:\Documents and Settings\owner\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\gk1mogwx.default

I am continuing to have Firefox problems. I am having to use Netscape. I will save this, and one other posting, I will have to try it. Thanks.

Sometimes, if you check the AppData folder (if you're using Windows), the bookmark data is still there. It's merely not accessible to the browser (for some weird reason), so at times it's possible to recover your bookmarks. I usually make sure I backup my bookmarks before I make major updates to my browser (like from Firefox 2 to 3).
I've been to the rice site--it's quite interesting how it combines two things together. Haven't seen the other one, but looks interesting.
