Blackboard or whiteboard?

Which one do you prefer? I used to have some blackboard foil on my door where I would practive my writing skills when I was studying to become a primary school teacher. I stopped this studies and writing on a blackboard is something I didn't miss at all. It was the only subject I had trouble passing and I just nearly made it. I'm no good at it. The chalk, the resistance, the mess it gives and the fact I get trouble breathing from the particles in the air. Whiteboards are more hygenic but markers are more expensive. Some people dislike them because the markers roll over the board to fast. I like it better because I find it easier to use and more hygenic and there is no need to clean it with water which is a must if you have a chalk board and your eraser gets cluttered with dust. What are your reasons for either one of them?

If it comes to color, most of the boards in our schools were actually green, not black:)) there were black ones too but mostly green... I have never seen a whiteboard though...maybe we have such stuff in my country but not in schools,or not in public schools,so I have never wrote on one...I can only imagine it's better because you don't get your hands all dirty and dusty ,and it cleans more easily...I would like to try one sometime

Too bad you life far away or you could've tried mine some time . I agree it saves you a lot of mess and discomfort, and you're right about the blackboards being green a lot of times. I just answered to a discussion that was all about blackboards being green and why they are called blackboards. I guess the first ever board used was black and they never changed it again .
