Gmail beats yahoo in spam protection?

In yahoo i get 100 spam mail but in gmail i get only 6 0r 7 mails daily as spam. I think yahoo is not preventing spam so i switched to gmail.com a good product from google.com.

I have accounts with both gmail and yahoo. I prefer yahoo. I don't have a problem with spam on yahoo. I use gmail ocassionally. Yahoo is the email I use most.

I have both (for different types of mail) and gmail has always done a better job of isolating the spam mail. However lately I have been getting 20 to 40 spam mails instead of the usual 5 or 6. It is put into the spam folder, so is easy to trash, but why so many in the past few days I am not sure.
