HONOLULU, Hawaii — Lifeguards have closed off a two-mile (about three-kilometer) stretch of ocean in Hawaii after a woman was injured in an apparent shark attack.
Officials say the woman was snorkeling about 50 yards (46 meters) off Makaha when she was injured Friday. She has been taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition with a wound to her upper extremities.
Paramedics say the woman made it to shore on her own and was aided by bystanders.
Lifeguards have cleared the ocean for a mile (1.6 kilometers) in each direction along the Waianae Coast and posted shark warning signs.
A police helicopter reported seeing a large shark near the shoreline just after the woman was hurt. AP
HAVE A NICE DAY AND TAKE CARE!

Hi Zelmarq! I am glad to know that the woman somehow escaped that shark although she was hurt, still it is good to know that she has survived the attack. That is really scary and I am sure that the woman is terribly scared in that attack. I hope she will recover soon from her injuries and trauma as well.
Take care and God Bless!

I have to wonder if we are not causing this shark attack problem. I wonder what makes these sharks want to go where they normally don't go and is it because humans are such easy prey. Years ago we did not have a big shark problem. Now it is almost common.

We are going to Hawaii next year. I think about all these things. I wonder how close they can get to the sand.

This is one of the reasons that I do not go in the sea! Seems to me that sharks attack a lot, a lot more than we think they do. What a terrifying experience for that poor woman, I just hope that she pulls through her ordeal.

I cant imagine it happening in real life, I thought they only happen in the movies and it makes me fear going to the sea or even the beach.

It seems like there have been a number of shark attacks this summer. I guess you need to take care not to look like a wounded fish out there. I'm glad it sounds like she will survive at least. There was another person who was bitten by a shark off the coast of Florida. He fortunately survived also. One surfer got away totally.
