I've just heard Tom Waits origanal version for the first time - OMG makes me appreciate The Ramone's cover even more. He sounds like the cookie monster if he's been gargling razor blades.

That's how I felt when I was forced to listen to Rod Stewart cover all the old big band classis. YECH!!! I prefered the originals. The stuff you mention is not my kind of usic, ut I do know how it is to really like a particular ersion o a song, and then hear it mangled by someone.
