Huge Pickleling Cucumber!

As my friends here know I have an exstensive garden including this year opickling cucumbers. I HAVE to get jars very soon now. As the wife and I checked the progress of everything early this morning I cam across many cukes that were ready for picking and pickling including this huge one. I love it. This will slice up for pickling into many wedges this weekend. Just wanted to share my monster future pickle was all.

I've had a couple cucs this size but afraid something (an ugly bug) ate my plants and their not doing well at all - I have a ton of jars and nothing to put in them yet :(

This is a pickling cuke not a regular cuke.
This is like State Fair sized. Hahahaha!
I've never had a bug problem with amy of my garden plants.
Lucky I guess is all.

Mine are pickling ones too but only got 3 - these bugs look like some prehistoric monster with spiny 'shells' their not big but thousands of them. I don't want to spray because the cucs are right next to the corn but may have too.

I love home made pickles. Mom use to make them and hers did not turn out so well most of the time. She would soak them in the brim for a long time in the crocks before pickling them.
I finally have one cucumber on one of my two plants. I still have hope to get more. I have loads of flowers.

It's my green beans that I have to pick almost everynight. I swear they grown when my back is turned. I do have caterpillars in my green beans so I had to get an organic spray and sprayed them tonight.

I searched the web and found a very good recipe.
Just like my mom made when I was little.
So you'll have some good ones not so vinegary tasting.

my goodness. that is a big pickling cucumber. that kind is my favorite. i think that they have a better flavor and a much better texture.
my mom has gotten a few off of her plants now. i have a red cherry tomato.
good growing, gradpa bob.

I'll be making speared pickles.
This will give me at least 8 spears I feel.
I've lots of tomatoes as well.

Thats a big cucumber, its going to make a delicious pickle one of these days. Cucumbers grow fast..you have to be out picking them about everyday..I learned that the hard way..lol. Have a good day

Wow..sounds yummy there! I am also making salads everyday with my cucumbers! With some onions,pepper and tomatoes!
Hmmm....We have also unlimited supply here! LOL!

Yeah we eat a lot of salads this time of the year with all my veggies grown.
I have hundreds of tomatoes growing. Hahahaha! The neighbors love it.

Last year we just pickled cukes with some spice mixture my wifes boss gave us. No idea what it contained actually. I am making dill pickles with the pickling cukes. With the regualr cukes I may make a few hars of sliced pickles, bread and butter I guess. But I want members to send me via PM some recipes for pickling.

wow! i love cucumbers and i eat it with vinegar with garlic and pepper dipped...i also use it for my eyes to refresh...i'm so envious with you, you have garden full of fruits and veggies...
