as we have all saw in the past the gas prices just seem to keep going up and up and it just doesn't seem to be going down, (its really amazing to me how things keep going up but they never seem to find their way back down)and i know that things are so expensive especially gas that it cost almost just as much for gas as it does for the actual trip itself(like the food the hotel and all of that) and i think thats just crazy honestly...i am about to go on a mini vacation and i was just wondering about all of you...do you plan to go on vacation this year and if you do where is it? my vacation is going to cost less than three hundred dollars so its not going to be that much lol...thanks for taking the time to read my discussion and hopefully you will take part and answer...i hope that you all have a great day today!

We went to visit my family in Germany this year. I haven't been there in eight years and haven't seen anybody from my family in four years. My parents decided to pay for all of us to come and see them. They are in poor health and this was probably the last time they could still enjoy having us there. They also had never seen our youngest. But it was difficult for me to see how much my parents had deteriorated in the past four years. They bought the tickets early and got a good price. Still, the plane was full both ways. I don't know how people can still afford to travel to Europe. I know I wouldn't have been able to afford it. I can't even afford local travel, lol. I think more and more people opt for minivacation hoping for good deals or just simply stay closer to home. It's just way too expensive to go far.

i went to bantayan island this year with my boyfriend. that was really a very wonderful experience. it's an island near cebu an the beaches are really awesome. white sand beaches, prestine cool waters, and the sun, i just love it. we didnt spend much for that travel too. we rent a motor bike and get to go to many places as well. that was one unforgettable vacation. and aside from the beautiful places, what makes it most memorable is that i spend it with somebody i love so much. my boyfriend is not here right now, but when he gets home next year, we sure will be going there again!:)

Yes, I had taken a vacation of a week each visiting Kerala and Goa. Both are wonderful places with a lot of scenery. Moreover, I like beaches and backwaters because of which these are my favourite holiday spots and never fail to attract me.

Hi jhl930. My husband and I just went to Las Vegas last month for 5 days. In a couple of weeks we are driving over to West Palm Beach, FL where he will work for a few days while I shop! I'll consider that a mini-vacation! But that's pretty much all for us right now, in terms of vacations. Leaving home can get very expensive these days. But we are at the point in our lives when we can do it if we really want to. Hope you enjoy your vacation.

We went to Florida this year for vacation. It actually was less money for us to fly than to drive there. There were 5 of us, and by the time we would have paid for gas, a hotel to stop at 1/2 way and food it would have cost us more than flying...and it also saved us time! This summer we have been going camping about 30 miles from home. We camp right on the lake and it is very relaxing.

With both of our children (adults now) being at University from September we have not been able to go abroad this year. Although, they have with money they earned from their jobs!! They are only young once. Luckily we have friends with a holiday home in Wales that we are going to visit to get away from it all for a few days. What am I going to do without my computer and MyLot?

Hi jhl930! Luckily, gas prices going up is not yet rampant when I went on vacation this past summer (summer here is feb-mid may) so I was able to go out of town thrice. First was with my family last April, we stayed about a week at my grandma's and we went to the beach. The beach over at my grandma's is just 5-10 minutes walking distance away. We also celebrated my aunt's and my grandma's birthday, it's cool cos they have the exact same birthday. So it was a 2-in-1 celebration. After 7 days, we headed back to the city. I only took a couple of days off and then one of my guy friends asked me to come over to their province for their fiesta, so I went with 2 other friends. We only stayed overnight, we also went to the beach the morning of our departure and right after we arrived back in the city, I threw my overnight bag in my room, picked up the huge bag that I've packed up before going to the fiesta and headed out again to meet another 6 friends of mine and headed to Batangas. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights there. So, that's about my vacation for this year. I don't think I'll be going anywhere until next year. My friends were planning to go to Boracay this September and December but I don't think it'll push through cos prices are really going way up and we're all unemployed. So maybe we'll afford another vacation once we're earning enough for luxuries.

I am planning to go on a vacation nest month with my husband. We are planning to go to Singapore. Just the two of us. We want to strengthen our bond and know each other again like the first time. We've been together for six years but haven't really tried it out to go o tour just the two of us. Normally, we go out with our children. Which is a lot of fun, too.

My family and I normally take a vacation every summer, but this summer since everything is so expensive we have decided to stay at home and do alot of inexpensive family things.

when everything goes up: food, water, clothes, gas..... everything that we use goes up except salary:( For half of this year, I wanna a vacation to visit a famous mountain that will be less than 400dollars, which is okay for me. If more, I am afraid I have to cancle this plan...

I went to Philidelphia for a week in April. It was for a convention so it wasn't really a vacation but I had fun anyway. I skipped most of the convention and went sight seeing, hehe.

I've been putting mine off, waiting for gas prices to go back down, but I'm running out of time and will have to take my vacation within the next eight weeks. My husband and I wanted to go back up north to visit family but we live about 1,000 miles away so the price of gas has been a consideration. We also recently had the *pleasure* of paying for some repairs to my husband's truck to the tune of $1,500 so that put a real crimp in our finances.
