I have heard that one should not drink water in between one's meals. I don't know why it is said so nor it's effects. Can anybody explain it to me? I cannot complete any meal without a gulp of water now and again. Which sort are you? Are you also the gulpy type or water is a strict no-no for you during your meals?

The only time i drink water with a meal is when i go out to breakfast. I am not one for juices such as apple or orange, i dont drink coffee, and i dont care for milk, so i drink water wtih my breakast. Other than that i might drink a bottle of water or two every cpl of days...i need to work on increasing that.

I fully agree with you and follow the same principle, but the expert's views seem to differ. Can anyone tell me why exactly?

I don't have this habit. And actually soup is something we will drink before or after a meal. As to the water, it's not a common drink for a meal. I love China

Hey, you've managed what many of us haven't. I wonder how do you gulp down food which are dry and don't go down the throat that easily without the aid of water or drink.

Hello,Rajesh! According to rules of science we should not drink water while eating.instead we take it after half an hour of the meals.the reason is if we drink water while eating the fat in the foods accumulate in the belly which may cause problems in future. but we don't mind and drink water and perhaps that is the reason why our belly becomes big.I also drink water with my meals, but fortunately i am not having big belly.thanx.

But, I is kinda impossible for me to have food without water or a drink. Food, which are dry, are most likely to go down with the aid of a liquid only. Even I am a lean person and I think I need not think much about it. But what about the well-endowed ones? I think they must've initiated this discussion and not me. Anyway, please provide some other scientific theory for it, if any.

Do you do it just out of habit or there's a specific reason for having water after the meals and not during it?

taking water in between the meals is not really good for health.the digestive system is effected becoz of drinking ilke that.water should be taken after the meals that too not immediately atleast after two hours.i think you are shocked.but it is true,i know this becoz i have read all this from naturopathy.my father is a strict follower of that book.he drinks the water after 2 houres.but i do not know how he is able to control.i am just like you.i take water inbetween

I don't deny what you're saying but according to me by drinking water during the meal we are helping the digestion process by providing a channel for the food to go down our throats which otherwise would have got choked in our throats due to want of fluids to lubricate its move. I would request you to ask your father the exact logic behind not drinking water while taking food. It's kinda really confusing.

yeah, I think it's something to do with digestion, but I am not clear about the whole thing. It's kinda recommended that you don't drink water but even if you do it's okay.

I have even heard that, but I don't know the logic behind it. I even take water during the meals, I can't complete the meal without it. I feel more thirsty during my meal than after my meal. When you'll come to know the logic do tell me. I know why should we take water after meal , so that we can digest all what we have on our meal.
