A Memo for a Compulsory Medical Check-up worth PHP180 at work

I got really upset upon reading the Memo this morning. The admin wants everybody to cooperate on the Medical Check-up tomorrow and it will cost everybody Php380. It's compulsory and they're gonna deduct the fee from our salary. I heard reactions from my officemates and I myself couldn't believe they'll force everybody to have that. I mean, they don't even give us benefits like Medicare and others and now they want us to pay this? In my old employer, these things are given for free and there were about 2000+ employees there. Now this company, can't even afford to shoulder the Medical check-up for 60 employees? And why force everybody? What about those who were just hired and had recently submitted a Medical Certificate and paid for that in the City Health's office as well? What about those who have regular check-ups because they're pregnant? Why force everybody? Php380 may be a small amount for others but for us who are earning minimum wage, that's way bigger than our daily earnings! What's the matter with these people?

I wonder what company are you working for. You should have at least medicare because that is mandatory by the government that you have it. As to the required medical check up I think it is a requirement by the local government to compel offices to submit a complete health profile of their employees. But as to how they will require that to the employees is up to the employers to decide. I would say its the companies responsibility to shoulder the expense since it will be for their benefit. In our case, we have medical insurance that covers for our annual physical exams that is why everybody is able to go for APE themselves. And the record goes directly to the company which is then submitted to the city health office to be issued a clearance report.

Sigh... good for you. This company sucks in that criteria. They don't even pay half of our sss (social security system) and now this... This is a 3-year old SEO company.. By the way, sorry for the mistake, the title should read: .... worth PHP380...

That is really appalling to know. It seems you are in a high tech business. SEO are internet based right?

medical checkup - photo of doctor checking woman's blood pressure
Hi my friend, I think it is good that everyone gets a medical checkup but I don't think it's fair for your employer to make you get it and not pay for it! If your employer is making it mandatory to do the check up, they should also pay for it. This is especially true for a person like you who is pregnant and I'm sure is under a doctor's care. I don't know what Php380 or 180 is in US money but whatever it is, it isn't right. Happy MyLotting, Char

Sorry about the error in the title, it's Php380, I think it's just about $9 there, but it's actually big bucks here for the working class.. Yes, a medical check-up is really nice to have because we'll at least know our condition but they shouldn't force it, you're right, it isn't right! Thanks for the response...
