Have you checked the FAQs?

I do not go through the 'myLot' interest section often and having scrolled through about 30 pages of discussions this evening, I found that there's a lot of dicussions repeated in this section and the same also repeated in the 'make extra money section' that have questions that could have so easily been answered by looking at the FAQs.. which brings me to the question, 'have you checked the myLot FAQs?'
Have you used the search tool to see if there's any similar discussions that may have a response already? Have you PM'd a friend? Have you sent myLot an email (ok, that one will take a while to get back apparently
) but have you tried to find out yourself before asking in a discussion?
Just helping some along a little..I don't necessarily read all the TOS when I join the site (the privacy and data protection ones are a must of course) but I will check T&Cs and the FAQs as I go along if queries pop up and I wonder if users (especially new users) are doing the same here before asking or is it a lot easier to hear it from someone already using the site?

Yes oi actually have read the facts and the rules and everything above. thought i have not checked everytime to see if a discussion was already made because you can make discussions similar to other one. but it must be in diffrent words and stuff... i might not remember everything perfectly i might make a mistake here or there. but i do read lol.
and emailing mylot. i have done that 2 or 3 times. 1 times they got right back to me. and the other 2 times. hahaha took them atleast a week or more.

In terms of discussions, if you think about how many times you've seen that one about 'how you can make more money on myLot', it's there almost everyday and is in the FAQ and various tips in many similar discussions before and if people checked it was there yesterday and day before..

Yes, a typical FAQ like that would surely be in the FAQs of any site but people will still ask in a discussion
so I show them the link where to find the info as I like to be helpful where I can but only so many times one can reply these..

I generally just wing it when joining a new site. If I find it a hard going then I probably will just drop it. I do check the tos and faq before doing any serious stuff but I don't study them, I just skim through them. If they are too involved and convoluted then I will most likely drop the site, I believe that too many rules restrict my activities. I don't really care for rules and will happily skip a site with too many restrictions. Cheers!!

I also just start out with a site and look through the FAQs or T&Cs as I go along or stumble on something I should check out, just like I do with my new gadgets, hate to read the handbooks at one go

Yes, when I was still a newbie here I made a point to read everything first. It counts because it will serve as your guide in going through this site. And it will you will never go wrong by following everything.

I agree with you wholly on this one
, as a newbie, you need to read the rules especially when you read about people being banned and don't want to get banned yourself

I totally agree with you, marina!
Sometimes when I browse in my interest groups, I saw many similar discussions. Before posting a new one, I search the topic first using the search bar up there and if I found it, I will check it if it is new or old, if it has many response or only few. If the discussion is old and have only few response, then I will start my own discussion but not copying it. I used also not to read TOS (and I only learned to do it here in myLot) but I never forget to read FAQ since it has the basics of a certain website. Good thing you bring up this topic here!
Cheers!

Some things about how to use the site can be found in the FAQs really and wonder why some can't be asked to check

yes. i checked the FAQs firstly. it's my habit since this action maybe can avoid some punishment before you make mistake. but this is really spend much time and you can not remember everything. so maybe i also issue some repeat discussion but i think it's not very much. on the other hand, in this world, the information is really expand fast and quick. then sometime check everything by yourselve is not necessary or possible. in this means, i think it should be forgiven if somebody make a little mistake. eventually, i agree with you at this point:the search tools is really a good way to be considered before we start a new question.
of course this is a good question. i hope more people can read it.

Thanks apprentice
I think the search tool is great as a lot of discussions are started the same day on same topic e.g 'how can I earn more in myLot?' which is in the myLot FAQs and no one knows for sure how earnings are calculated...

Interesting thoughts you have brought up here. Something I am sure most people have never done. I have been here quite a while myself, and I have had to help in some respects for others along the way. Yes, a lot of discussions could be answered by the FAQ's and learning what is not allowed to Post in here could be learned in the TOS area as well. Thanks for posting this, and maybe some Newer members will notice this and learn from this as well.

Newer members may notice this if it didn't get swallowed up by the hundreds of discussions started each day
but nonetheless some have

hi marina!
honestly, i am not one for reading TOS and FAQs. I hate reading long stuff on the computer. anyway, i know that there are probably hundreds of similar discussions here, if not exactly the same.
so what i do is, and this is my rule of thumb:
1. i only start discussions that are unique to my experience--something that others could not write about, so i am the only one who started that discussion.
2. i only reply to discussions that are also unique to the experiences of other users. i don't respond to discussions such as, shoe size, hair color, age, weight, favorite food, etc etc... my goodness! there are just so many of them going on around here, and then we question why our discussions get deleted and our earnings get decreased. this is the answer.
hehe
anyway, take care dear! hope you continue mylotting! God bless you! :)

Ok, I am getting the hang of discussions deleted and that will kinda put me off these similar topics although I enjoy helping and answering those cries for help

hi marina a lot of newbies dont bother to read any of the rules and dont have someone help them if they do not understand. so they write discussions which break mylot rules and are deleted. then they post a discussion berating mylot which is in itself a no no , and never bother to find out why their discussions were deleted. read the darned rules people and you will save your discussions from being deleted.

Maybe some do not know where the rules are or how to find what they are looking for and we should try to give them the benefit of the doubt?
I do not think some can be bothered though to read them but that's what they are there for..

I agree that a lot of things can be found on your own if you want to look, but think about what the site is all about.
You don't make any money by reading the FAQ or TOS and it's also the easy way out to just ask someone.
I'm not saying it's right, but people are going to be lazy and looking for a penny any way they can get it.

Hmm, I think some people are genuinely asking and not necessarily for the pennies? Have you not seen the cries for help?!

I have, and those are the ones that are looking for the easy way that I mentioned.
When I see them, I direct them to my profile, because I've taken the time to write up a lot of tips.

Good tips, you thought of all scenarios! I will be reading through those myself to check I haven't missed anything and to poach some secrets of course

i have read faq and other help material provieded by mylot. But still it not always possible to follow all the rules of mylot. sometime you have to break the rule. i always try to follow rules. when i start new discussion if i have time then definitely i search for that topic whether it is already available in mylot or not then i start discussions.

Hey marina, I have read all the stuff that mylot offers and
I have tried to contact them on numerous occasions and I
can tell you that it has been to no avail. I have not gotten
any responses to my emails. I don't know at what point they
answer. I have written to them asking why they can't verify
that I have an active Paypal account for instance. I found it
easier to ask my friends. I hate to bother myloters but,
what do I to do. It's frustrating when the people that should
be answering don't answer. You are right though the discussion
forum should be for topics of interest, not mylot problems.

I haven't had to send them an email before so I am not aware how long they take except from other discussions..
Are you not able to verify with PayPal about your account, maybe you shouldn't be asking them that
Also, in terms of discussions, I am sure you've seen those 'help please' ones and also the favourite of 'how to earn more money in myLot' which is also in the FAQ and no one knows for sure how earnings are calculated and before people ask this, if they did a search, they'd see that someone asked today, yesterday and the day before too
