Here are some of the things that I was reading about wisdom and how I may feel or like to interpret it. Some would describe wisdom as the right use of knowledge. I understand it as a lot of common sense . Some say Wisdom comes along with age. I think sometimes age comes alone. Further what use is wisdom when it is too late to do us much good ? Here is one I agreed with- Wisdom comes from our experiences and our experiences some times comes from our foolishness. What do you say? BTW :Wisdom is also knowing when to appear ignorant.

'Wisdom comes from our experiences and our experiences some times comes from our foolishness. ' I like this one - a great way to put it! In today's perspective, I guess, common sense is the greatest virtue or wisdom, as you have rightly said. It feels sad see people with inflated job titles and with even greater academics lack common sense and values. No education is good enough to incorporate this in humans. Wisdom comes from sense and sensibilities in right proportion and also experience (foolishness that we commit in daily course). And dear, being wise is to be ignorant, silent, dumb when situation demands....I have been there, many times and guess what I was mistaken as aweak personality. never mind - life goes on. *laughs*

Friends elevate each other.Smiles Strange indeed are the ways of the world Mimpi, but recognising and using our strengths at the right times I guess, makes us" wordly wise".

Very well said Mimpi, "Wisdom comes from sense and sensibilities in right proportion and experience" It's very true indeed. And how wrongly your silence has been mistaken as a weak personality. Take heart from the fact that people also need "to be wise to recognise wisdom". Thanks and have a wonderful day.

You have always elevated my spirit, alok. The way of the world has been like that. Unless and until you give back or talk in a tone of command you are mistaken as weak personality. Softspokenness and good mannerisms are mis perceived as your lack of confidence. How strange it is!

Yes, I agree with all the definitions you have mentioned. Wisdom do come with age or vice versa. And this one is marvallour - Wisdom is also knowing when to appear igonorant. We keep learning everyday, this is my view and keep becoming wiser, this is what we think deep inside us. It is all experience, which makes us better and infuse 'wisdom' in us. I firmly believe - 'there is no substitute for experience'. Therefore, I share something with my kids or the younger ones based on my experience, I would definitely be disclosing something useful.

Thanks Dpk. An interesting point you made there. "Wisdom comes with age or vice versa" True we get wiser as we grow older, and it does seem that 'we grow older trying to get wiser'. It's also true about there being no substitute for experience and It is important to share with the younger generation.

I think wisdom always comes from experience so I guess you have to be older to attain it. I don't agree that wisdom is useless if it comes too late to do us much good - how old is too late anyway? I would say you're never too old to make use of wisdom. You're right that age sometimes comes alone though - I know some older people who have obviously learned nothing from their life experiences.

Wisdom and experience are two sides of the same coin. One cannot be wise without the other. Experience is the teacher of teachers and comes with age. So again, age is linked with experience. We make many a foolish mistakes and learn from them. So learning is part of wisdom and again associated with experience. I liked your last line, wisdom is also knowing when to appear ignorant. Cheers.

I agree with you. wisdom comes with age.. and also the confidence to use it.In few cases age comes alone, but I think it is never late to use it. And one more thing, it is difficult to show your wisdom at a mature stage ( age ), as the youngsters think it a generation gap , and only realize it when they reach a certain age..

I think wisom is giving advice in hard situations.. And just some uselss advice, no I mean really really usefull advice.. Maybe not the life changing advice, but still advice that can help you out in hard situations.. Also I think wisdom is knowing much about life, just life, not anything else.. For example when you have learned lots of life's lessons then I find you a wise person.. Have a good day..

In my opinion wison can only come from experience; and experience only comes with time. So by default, wisdom can only be attained by those that have been around long enough to gain it! And it is NEVER too late to do anybody any good! Many of us are far more wise than we realize; we just aren't fully aware of how best to use it. Secondly, there are very few of us that have enough faith in ourselves to BELIEVE! ANd foolishness, mistakes, bad decisions ALL contribute to becoming wise..... As do all positive things as well. Wisdom comes from a combination of all of this and allows our thoughts and stated opinions and advice to be well rounded as a result of the same.

I like your post!! For me wisdome comes from experiences learned. The good thing is we don't have to experience all the foolishness to learn from it. My oldman said that the wiseman learned from his own experiences, but the wiser wiseman learned not only from his own mistakes but take the other's mistake as a good example to learn too :)
