If you realised that you are 24 weeks pregnanta and have just realised that the baby in your womb is having a conjenital heart disease and would need artificial help all the time, maybe be defomed too, would you go ahead and abort th e baby or give birth to it. The parents have moved court to abort the baby as they are middle class and will not be able to afford all the gadgets to keep the baby alive. The court has refused them permission as she has crossed the deadline of 22 weeks. Its a sad state of affairs and the court feels it as good as killing somebody. If God forbid you are in such a state, what would you do ?

I would start a fund raising program that would help me keep the baby alive when I deliver it. Alongside the fund raising's principles would be that if ever the baby does not live before the funds raised were accumulated, then I'd donate it to a similar cause. Why would I worry about ME, what would I feel, how hard would it be for ME to raise such a child? When it's the child who is really in grave danger? Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I would have to give birth to my baby and then if I couldn't afford his or her treatment think about adoption. I am pro-life and think every baby is innocent. It is really sad to hear "your baby might not be compatible with life" at 36 weeks pregnancy. Then the next day have it confirmed "your baby does have spina bifida" and they even offered me an abortion. I thought the limit was 24 weeks but if the baby will be severely disabled or the mother's life is in danger there seems to be no limit. My son is now 22 months old and luckily in my home country we have the National Health Scheme. I feel sorry for the lady and wonder how her baby is doing now that he or she has been born.

Actually when you write that you would give your baby for adoption, but then who would be willing to adopt a deformed or very sick baby ?? You are lucky you have Nataional Health Scheme. Here we have to fend for ourselves, and donations may or maynot come. Very often they are promised and then nothing. The lady miscarried as per the news, so its better that way. In India, medical is sossosooo very expensive that you cannot think of falling sick. Of course we have Govt. run hospitals, but they are not good. We have to fall back upon private hospitals which cost a bomb. I hope you baby boy is doing good. Good luck and God Bless you both.

I would hate that if it happened to me. I would not want the bay to have to live like that. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone. I would not be able to provide or afford things for it either. I think it would be best if the child was out of their poor misery. that is the hinest truth.
