Well I have worked in two jobs where I was a waitress. In one I was paid gratuity as my official title was "Banquet Server" and tips were not usually given if ever. In the other I was given tips. At the job I was given tips, the most I made off of one table was $20.00. I used to keep a zip lock bag with all of my tips in it. I think the day I got the $20.00 was very rewarding, although I had to expect it as the guy who gave it was rumored to be very well off. I may be getting another job as a waitress but this time might be getting paid gratuity again as it says on their menu that gratuity is added in on every purchase. How much was your biggest tip and how did you feel about it?
Also please wish me luck on this job, Have a wonderful and lovely day to you all!

Hi SomeCowgirl,When I was in College, I have tried working as a waitress and our tip will be deposited in a jar and to be opened every December and be divided equally by every workers...Not fair right? LOL! But, it was the policy in the restaurant where I worked..
ANyway, I have no experience here about that job and in most restaurant we are visiting, the waitresses are keeping the tips and my hubby is giving 10-15% of our bill!
I wish you luck and I know it will be a great experience!

Yes, the proper amount of tips are 10 to 15%. It is not right to have the tips divided as so, but I suppose it would cause people to want to stay at least until December where they could get their own share of tips! I suppose it was like a Christmas bonus! Have a wonderful day to you, and again good luck on your search for a job! May you be able to spend time with you hubby!
